Village Bicycle Repair Reviews
After biking from Maine to Oregon and visiting my fair share of bike shops along the way, I have discovered that there are lots of great shops out there. That being said, Belgen Cycles might be my favorite. I could be biased because of the epic trails two minutes away, or because it is so close to home, or because I was there earlier today, but however you want to put it, I am grateful to have this kind of resource so close to home. The shop itself has a small footprint but it's packed with (full suspension, hardtail, rigid and road) bikes. Tools are organized and there is usually some music playing in the background.Gene and Patrick are two of the most grounded, knowledgeable folks around. You are guaranteed a quality answer whether you are asking about the history of Salsa, the pros and cons of a slack head angle, or local trail systems. Gene was very generous with his time, setting up a demo Pony Rustler specifically to my size and pedal request. Thanks guys!
Jun 29, 2017 · Aidan PowellSimply the best bike buying experience I’ve had. Gene takes the the time to make sure everything is set up properly and the bike is ready to ride when you leave. It’s a small shop with a local feel and he obviously knows and loves the bikes he sells. Stop by and take a look, it’s well worth your time!
Jul 29, 2019 · Milo WillmottGene Bell is a credit to the bike industry. My Litespeed had a creaky bottom bracket, I was traveling in VT up from NJ. Not only did Gene answer the phone but he fixed it right on the spot for a very reasonable price. In no uncertain terms, he saved my trip. He even gave me a quick lesson in front der cable tensioning. Highly recommended.
Aug 15, 2020 · Gene DassingJust wanted to update my review to say that I have just purchased a Salsa Mukluk Fat bike from Gene, a 2016 model. Working with Village Bicycle Repair continues to be an excellent experience. Gene and the fellas at Village Bicycle have bailed me out several times. The shop is very small, but their work excellent, due to the demand on them and their very small space they can get backlogged sometimes during the busy season but this is a testimony to their success a great bike shop!
Dec 31, 2015 · Roxy BombardierA small bicycle shop with premium quality selection (Salsa, Litespeed, Soma). Gene is happy to explain bicycle tech and maintenance for customers and he really knows his stuff. The shop is well stocked, the work space is fairly tidy and everything is nicely laid out. If you're looking for a full suspension mountain bike or a fatbike you should make this your first stop. Quality service standing behind their bikes, and a great source of knowledge and support.
