Hitchhiker Bike Shop Reviews
Can't recommend this shop highly enough – it's now one of my favorite I've ever been to. I demoed a Forbidden Druid and then had George, the owner, build me one up from a frame. Throughout it all, he was fantastic to work with: superb mechanic, very fair prices, and quick communications. Plus, he's a true advocate for mountain biking and just a great guy overall and a pleasure to deal with. The shop carries a number of excellent smaller and rider-owned brands, like Forbidden and Chromag, it's got a well-chosen selection of parts and gear, and the demo bike I test rode was in excellent shape. George is also a great resource for knowledge about local trails and riding through New England more generally, so even if you don't live nearby, it's well worth the trip to ride the trails in Stowe/Bolton and support a legit local shop that does top notch work.
Apr 11, 2025 · Evan Calder WilliamsGreat shop and great people. Bought a used demo bike from hitchhiker and they really took care of me. After riding the bike for the first time I realized something was wrong with the rear shock after bringing it back I’m not only did they offer the send it our to get rebuilt at no cost to me but also offered to mailed back to me in New York. I always heard great things while going to school at uvm but they really exceeded my expectations.
May 28, 2025 · Jason MontagnaWe had a flat tire on Vermont vacation. George at Hitchhiker replaced the tube on my Mokwheel Asphalt back tire before I finished a cup of coffee. Thank you so much for saving our bike adventure!
Jun 29, 2025 · Sharon ArndtI visited Hitchhiker while on vacation in Stowe to fix an issue with my gravel bike. They were incredibly accommodating and fixed the issue right away. Highly recommend for service or just looking around!
May 31, 2025 · Andrew GoetzOrdered a bike online/via text and the process was very smooth despite me being located in the opposite corner of the US. Packing was good and all the follow-up via text was prompt and helpful. Overall a great experience.
