Velocipede Cyclery positions itself as a full-spectrum and full-service bicycle shop, run by a "highly skilled team of cycling industry veterans who are obsessed with bikes." Their location in Dogpatch, with its "gritty and authentic" industrial roots, inspires their approach to the business. They emphasize providing professional bike repair and fitting services alongside a wide selection of top cycling products. Their core philosophy appears to revolve around quality, value, and a deep understanding of cycling. They aim to be a comprehensive resource for cyclists, from helping customers find their "dream bike" to ensuring proper frame size for a comfortable and safe cycling experience. While one customer's experience highlighted issues with perceived attitude and communication regarding a warranty claim, another strongly praised the shop for its "transparency with which they perform service." This second customer, a "picky customer," specifically commended Velocipede for not recommending unnecessary services, discussing appropriate "level of service or quality of parts," and not automatically ordering the most expensive components, instead engaging in a dialogue about "which parts may work for you and why." This suggests a commitment to honest, collaborative, and patient customer interactions, particularly when it comes to repairs and component choices. They also offer service plans for bikes purchased directly from them, indicating a long-term commitment to their customers' cycling journey.

Velocipede Cyclery Reviews
Yikes - come here if you want: unprofessional, teenage angsty attitudes from grown adults who will lie and shouldn't be trusted to service your bike properly if you accidentally look at them the wrong way.I came here to test ride a bike one weekend when they were clearly not busy, but ended up buying from a friend instead (who would say no to saving over $1,000?). Came back for a warranty claim and to buy accessories - wanting give them some support. Bought an accessory but they acted like some little children who were just grounded; took my info and lied about filing a warranty claim. I know they get compensated for warranty service from Specialized, and I was willing to pay for their time anyways.Spoke to a bunch of locals after who said they got similar attitudes from them. Oh well, thankfully there are several other professional bike shops around town to provide business to instead.
Feb 01, 2025 · Dalton HoI love this shop. I've been to every bike shop in a two mile radius and this is really the best one. Any number of features about this shop is great, but what stood out to me is the transparency with which they perform service. They don't recommend anything unnecessary, and indeed will discuss with you what level of service or quality of parts makes sense. They don't automatically order the most expensive components, but discuss with you which parts may work for you and why. I am a picky customer and they have been very patient with me. Highly recommend Velocipede, be it for a purchase or service.
Dec 10, 2024 · B. Deniz CakmakPro level service for any bike. I came in to have my 15 year old Trek Madone bike worked on. The service was excellent and Fred and his crew were patient in answering questions and going over options. I loved the advice/service and went back to browse the store in more depth and got to see quite a range of bikes from electric to road to casual. While I wasn’t looking to buy a new bike as they’d just fixed my old one, I was curious about what’s out there and asked a lot of questions about the range of bikes they have. In the end, I did end up buying a new bike. The fact that they are detail oriented, great listeners and informative (without being biased) helped me make a confident decision in a relatively big investment. The bike set up was also complex and required multiple trials to find the right fit for me but Fred and his team were always patient and willing to try different set ups. The most important factors for me were their patience and expertise, I wouldn’t have bought a new bike of this nature if I didn’t feel confident in their post purchase support. All star service all around and they also happen to be in a great neighborhood for testing out a bike if you’re in the market for a new ride. Side note: I also saw several riders come in with basic service needs like flat tires... again, they treated everyone wonderfully and offered a high level of service whether the bikes were newer or older — as I had experienced in bringing a 15 year old bike for service here initially.
Jan 03, 2020 · R “RR”Everyone at Velocipede is sharp— they know their stuff, get things done efficiently, and never try to pressure you into getting more work done than you might need. I’ve been getting parts and service here for a couple years, and even now that I live farther out I’ll still make the trek over— definitely trust them compared to less reliable experiences I’ve had at other shops.
Sep 08, 2024 · Kari BergstedtVelocipede is my go to bike shop and I drive 30 minutes across the city just to go when I have a bike shop 5 minutes away! They are so friendly and helpful and take the time to make you feel comfortable. Fred specifically is the BEST! I had something urgent come up with my bike and he stayed past close to help me get it sorted. 11/10 and highly recommend!!
