Universal Cycles Company LLC Reviews
Interesting experience at Universal Cycles that I'd like to share.I ride everyday, year round in Portland. I had no idea that this bike shop was literally a few blocks from where I live.I have a bike that is NOT fancy, lik I mentioned, it's ridden everyday. I had an issue with the bottom bracket and asked if they could remove it and provide a quote for replacing the shifter and brake cables.Upon entering the store, I was greeted warmly and promptly. The person who checked me in, listened and said he didn't know if they could remove it but he'd take the bike to the mechanic for an inspection and quote. The mechanic was able to get the bottom bracket off!!! AND he said there was no charge for taking off the bottom bracket. Then...he said, "but we are not interested in working on this bike."I don't understand the need to be unkind in this situation. This could have been THE local bike shop for me, but after this experience, I will not be going there again.
Apr 26, 2025 · Antonio MarquezAlways a friendly smile from the staff, who are passionate and incredibly knowledgeable. I get all my parts from them, and when I need something done that's beyond my skills, the service department is excellent. They recently performed a mullet conversion on a gravel bike for me, and got it done quick and correctly.
May 03, 2025 · Blake Morleyregret buying online from them. Assembled the bike, over weekend and then the front tire would not inflate at all... Bummer!! Called the customer service Monday morning, and their voice prompt says phone lines wont open until friday. Send an email. The saga starts...
Jun 23, 2025 · Ashutosh SagarThis might be a long review. Dismayed and shocked at the complete insensitivity of the customer service department. I’m trying to return something that a very dear friend of mine bought. I’ll be at three months ago. It has never been used. He suffered a traumatic brain injury And likely will not be able to ever ride a bicycle again. I was told we have a firm 30 day return policy and when I asked if there was someone who I could speak with this person put me on hold came back to the phone a minute or two later and said no there was nobody available. I would have no problem if there was a restocking fee, but the flat out say no under the circumstances is a clear indication of an insensitive culture and very, very poor customer service.
Feb 11, 2025 · Valerie KahnGreat inventory, staff always seem happy to have a lil chat and suggest products when I go in looking. I've had work done on both my bikes here and always feel well taken care of. They really go above and beyond and you can tell everyone there is stoked on riding bikes which is great to see.
