The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop is conveniently located at 13106 Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066, USA. This address places it within a well-trafficked corridor of Los Angeles, making it accessible to a wide range of communities in West Los Angeles, including Marina del Rey, Culver City, Venice, Mar Vista, and surrounding areas. Washington Boulevard is a significant east-west artery, facilitating relatively easy access for customers traveling from various parts of the city.
The shop's position on a main boulevard means it generally benefits from good visibility and straightforward navigation for those arriving by car or bicycle. While specific parking information isn't provided, commercial areas along Washington Boulevard often feature street parking or nearby small lots, which would be beneficial for customers transporting bikes for service or considering a new purchase. For Californians who rely on their bikes for commuting or leisure, the proximity of a local shop like The ReCYCLIST can be a considerable advantage, offering a convenient spot for quick repairs, maintenance, or Browse new equipment without having to venture too far from home or work. This central location in a highly populated part of Los Angeles reinforces its potential as a go-to destination for the local cycling community.
Bicycle Sales: Based on customer feedback, The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop is involved in selling bikes of various types. A customer specifically mentioned trying out different bikes for over two hours, indicating a selection available for purchase and a process that allows for thorough decision-making.
Bicycle Repair and Maintenance: The shop offers repair services, including brake adjustments and possibly other general maintenance tasks. One customer inquired about a wheel adjustment and training wheel screw tightening, which indicates their capacity for common bike fixes. However, note that while they offer repairs, the quoted timeframe for assessment can be lengthy (e.g., 5 days).
Bike Fitting and Adjustments: The experience of spending over two hours trying out different bikes and adjusting them "over and over to try and meet our friend's very particular standards" strongly suggests that the shop provides bike fitting services. This is crucial for ensuring comfort, efficiency, and injury prevention for riders.
Expert Consultation: The detailed attention given to a friend picking out a bike, involving extensive time and adjustments, indicates that the staff provides in-depth consultation and assistance during the bike selection process.
Exceptional Patience and Kindness in Sales: A standout feature, as highlighted by a positive review, is the incredible patience and kindness of staff member "Jim" during the bike selection process. Spending over two hours with a customer, making repeated adjustments without rushing or showing frustration, is a significant positive.
Compassionate and Understanding Approach: Despite a customer ultimately declining an initial purchase after extensive time and effort, the staff (Jim) was described as "very compassionate and understanding" and "didn't give us any grief." This non-pressuring sales environment is a highly valued trait.
Flexibility in Customer Decision-Making: The fact that the customer returned later to complete the purchase, after initially declining, speaks volumes about the positive experience and the shop's willingness to allow customers ample time and space to make their decisions without pressure.
Potential for Lengthy Service Wait Times: It's important to note a specific highlight (or point of caution) regarding repair services. One customer was quoted a "5 days to even look at it because he’s so busy" for a relatively minor repair, indicating that repair lead times can be substantial.
Mixed Customer Service Perceptions: There are contrasting views on customer service. While one review praises patience and understanding in sales, another describes an experience as "extremely rude," with "racist and sexist vibes," and a generally "terrible attitude" and "awful service" for a walk-in repair inquiry. This suggests variability in customer experience depending on the interaction type or individual staff member encountered.
Pricing for Repairs Can Be Higher: A quoted price of $50 for a relatively simple adjustment (turning a wheel and tightening a screw on training wheels) was significantly higher than another shop's $5, suggesting that their repair pricing might be on the higher end for certain services.

The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop presents a unique set of characteristics that make it a suitable, albeit nuanced, option for locals in the California, particularly those residing in the Los Angeles area. Its suitability largely depends on the specific needs and expectations a customer brings to the shop, particularly regarding new bike purchases versus quick repairs.
For Californians in the market for a new bicycle, The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop offers a highly positive and patient sales experience. The detailed account of Jim spending over two hours assisting a friend in selecting and adjusting a bike, even allowing for an initial deferral of purchase with compassion and understanding, highlights a significant strength. This level of personalized attention and lack of sales pressure is a valuable asset in a major urban environment like Los Angeles, where rushed interactions are common. For a local seeking a comprehensive bike fitting and a thoughtful purchasing process, The ReCYCLIST could be an excellent choice, fostering confidence in a significant investment. This dedication to ensuring the right fit and comfortable decision-making resonates well with cyclists who prioritize a thorough buying experience.
However, it is crucial for locals to consider the shop's approach to repair services. While they do offer repairs, one review highlighted a potentially long wait time for even an initial assessment (5 days) and a higher price quote ($50 for a minor adjustment) compared to competitors. This suggests that for urgent or minor repairs requiring immediate attention and budget-friendly solutions, other local options might be more suitable. This distinction is important for the diverse needs of Californian cyclists, some of whom rely on their bikes daily and cannot afford prolonged downtime or unexpectedly high costs for simple fixes.
The shop's location on Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles is undeniably convenient for a large segment of the Westside community. This accessibility means that for residents in nearby neighborhoods, visiting the shop for sales consultations or to drop off bikes for service is straightforward.
In conclusion, The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop's suitability for locals lies in its strong performance in customer-centric sales and bike fitting processes, characterized by patience, kindness, and understanding. For those investing in a new bicycle and valuing a non-pressured, attentive purchasing experience, it appears to be a highly recommended destination within the California cycling scene. However, for locals prioritizing quick, inexpensive, and immediate repair services, it would be wise to manage expectations regarding turnaround times and pricing, and potentially consider it for planned, less urgent service needs.

The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop Reviews
Stay far away. Extremely rude. Racist and sexist vibes. No greeting just looked at me crazy. Then said off the bat I would be better off going back to where i bought the bike from without even looking at it. Then went on to say it would be $50 to turn the wheel around and tighten the screw on the training wheel but that he’d need to look at it first to make sure it’s even in working condition but it would take 5 days to even look at it because he’s so busy. Terrible attitude. Awful service. Took it to wheel world and got great service and much better customer service. They did right away same day with a smile and it cost only $5, which was far less than the $50 The ReCYCLIST Bike Shop quoted me and it took the guy 5 minutes to fix it.
Jul 04, 2025 · anasia obiohaWe went over to help a friend pick out a bike. Jim was amazing. I cannot over-emphasize how patient and kind he was working with our friend. We spent over 2 hours of his time trying out different bikes and adjusting them over and over to try and meet our friend's very particular standards. We got to tallying up the total before our friend declined to go through with the purchase. Jim was very compassionate and understanding and didn't give us any grief. We ended up going back later in the week to purchase the bike.
Dec 24, 2024 · Alex Chaomy front wheel was stolen and they managed to build me a new one from second hand parts AND replace my chain, all for less than $100 including labour - great value compared with many other shops in the area that i've used
Apr 05, 2025 · Henry van der BeekI was well educated on what would be best for me. Jim is super sweet and amazing!!! This is a honest bike sho. I was looking for a replacement for my stolen bike, and Gym was so helpful and my selection of a comfort, hybrid bike that fit in my ride and budget. He never pressured, but rather guided me in my decision for the right bike he even gave me a great price within my budget. I love it. I'm so so happy!
Oct 27, 2024 · ASH DReally loved this spot- I wasn’t pushed into buying anything I didn’t want and got to test two bikes in the back. Decided on a Giant bike for a decent price and Jim was so helpful and nice! Will definitely be recommending this place to others and coming in for any maintenance needs!
