This prime location places it strategically within a bustling area of Culver City, making it highly accessible for residents of Culver City itself, as well as surrounding neighborhoods such as Mar Vista, Palms, West Los Angeles, and even those commuting from farther parts of Los Angeles County. Sepulveda Boulevard is a major arterial road in Southern California, known for its easy navigation and connection to various parts of the city.
The storefront’s position on such a prominent boulevard ensures that it is easy to find, whether you are driving, using public transportation, or cycling to the shop. The location on a main street typically provides good visibility and allows for straightforward access, which is crucial for customers who might be bringing in bikes for repair. While specific parking details aren't provided, being on a major commercial street often means there are parking options available nearby, either street parking or small lots, making it convenient for customers to drop off or pick up their bicycles. For the active Californian cyclist, its location means that essential services and new gear are just a short ride or drive away, solidifying its role as a vital local resource for the cycling community in the Los Angeles area. This ease of access contributes significantly to its suitability as a go-to bike shop for everyday needs and urgent repairs alike.
Bicycle Repair and Maintenance: A core service, Abba Padre Bikes and Books provides comprehensive repair and maintenance for bicycles. This includes quick fixes like brake adjustments, tire pressure checks, and more complex repairs such as wheel hammering and fixing potentially tampered parts, as evidenced by customer reviews. They are known for providing estimates upfront and completing repairs efficiently, often on the same day.
Bicycle Tune-ups: Beyond basic repairs, they offer more extensive services like full bike tune-ups, which include adjustments to brakes and other components, ensuring the bike runs smoothly and safely. This was highlighted by a customer who opted for a combined brake fix and tune-up deal.
Parts and Accessories Sales: The store stocks essential bicycle parts and accessories. A customer specifically mentioned finding double-sided pedals (one flat, one clip-in) for a friend’s bike, indicating a selection of specialized parts catering to different riding preferences. It's reasonable to assume they carry other common accessories like helmets, lights, and locks.
Bicycle Sales: While the primary focus might be on service, customer reviews indicate that Abba Padre Bikes and Books also sells various types of bicycles. This suggests they can cater to individuals looking to purchase new bikes, from entry-level models to potentially more specialized options.
Expert Advice and Guidance: Customers praise the staff for being "extremely kind and explain things well," particularly helpful for "newbies on the bikes." This indicates a strong commitment to educating customers and providing clear, understandable explanations regarding repairs and bike care.
Books (Historical/Ancillary): While primarily a bike shop, the name "Bikes and Books" and a customer's observation of "a few near the entrance" suggest that they may have a small, perhaps curated, collection of books. This adds a unique, perhaps niche, element to the store's offerings, though its current emphasis seems firmly on bicycles.
Transparent and Fair Pricing: Customers appreciate the upfront estimates and confirmation of costs before proceeding with repairs. The example of a $15-25 estimate for brakes, confirmed at $25, and an additional tune-up for $55, shows a clear and fair pricing structure that avoids surprises.
Timely Service and Quick Turnaround: A significant highlight is their efficiency. Customers noted that repairs were completed "by the end of the day," and the staff's "timeliness in doing so" was greatly appreciated. This quick service minimizes downtime for cyclists.
Exceptional Customer Education: Particularly beneficial for less experienced cyclists, the staff takes the time to "explain things well," fostering understanding and confidence in their customers. This educational approach builds trust and loyalty.
Friendly and Accommodating Staff: Reviewers consistently describe the employees as "great," "extremely kind," and "willingness to help out." This welcoming and helpful demeanor contributes significantly to a positive customer experience, making even complex bike issues feel manageable.
Versatile Repair Capabilities: From simple tire pressure checks to more complex tasks like hammering out a wheel post-accident or dealing with detached brake parts, the shop demonstrates a wide range of repair expertise, catering to various mechanical issues.
Unique "Bikes and Books" Concept: While the extent of the "books" aspect is unclear, its inclusion in the name and the presence of a few books near the entrance give the store a unique identity, setting it apart from conventional bike shops.

Abba Padre Bikes and Books Reviews
I brought my bike in because it was having issues with the breaks. I didn’t call ahead or anything, just walked in and one of the employees was able to give me a rough estimate of around $15-25 which I thought was fair. I left my bike there and they called back after inspecting it to confirm that the repair would cost $25 and that they could fix it by the end of the day. Instead, they offered me a deal for $55 where they would fix the breaks as well as give my bike a tune up, so I went for it. Overall, great experience. My friend also came in with me to buy pedals for her bike, and was really happy to find that they carried some for her that was double sided-1 pedal and the other clip in for clip shoe.Looks like they also sell bikes of varying types. I don’t know if they actually sell books or if that’s just something they used to do. There were a few near the entrance.I’d bring my bike here again.
Sep 23, 2022 · Miriam LopesThese guys are great. I'm a total newbie on the bikes so have gone to them a few times to get things fixed up, including fixing tire pressure (didn't know how full it was supposed to be), post-accident care (they hammered out the wheel for me), and potentially tampered parts (an entire half of my front brake just fell off). They are extremely kind and explain things well, and I appreciate them for their willingness to help out and timeliness in doing so. Cannot recommend enough.

Apr 15, 2025 · Maximiliano Abundez ToledoWent there with a shifting problem on my bike that sounded like something is broken. They fixed it and did a full service for 55$ and it only took them a day. They were also very nice and friendly. Absolutely a recommendation! Also because I read a negative comment about it, my bike is a higher end road bike, so they know how to handle also more expensive/ elaborated bikes.
