The DropOut Cyclery Reviews
Jonathan and his team are the best in the business. They truly care about their customers and the entire cycling community. I’ve never experienced a shop before that goes above and beyond to ensure I’m getting the right products for my needs and that my bikes are always safe and reliable.I purchased a new cannondale road bike from the dropout and they also sold one of my older road bikes for me. It’s always a smooth process and Jonathan has my best interest in mind. Thank you for all your help and support!!!
Jan 16, 2025 · Marc MansolinoI recently brought my road bike to The DropOut Cyclery in Old Torrance for a full tune-up and couldn’t be happier.Jonathan was incredibly friendly, helped me install a kickstand and a phone mount and adjust my seat , and never tried to upsell me. He did this all in under 20 minutes!Their pricing is very fair, especially given the quality of work. I also appreciated their willingness to answer questions about e‑bikes and mountain bikes—definitely a shop that knows its stuff. Plus, they carry a great selection of new and pre‑owned bikes and gear.A true community gem—this is now my go-to spot for all bike needs. Highly recommend!
Jun 11, 2025 · Jessica SchUpdate: Very petty to delete your original reply. You said you very much remembered me, that only shows your true colors changing your original response. I've been trying to support my local bike shops, but these have been my experiences. I have spent money at your shop multiple times and for you to switch up and say you have no record now is quite lousy, sneaky, and dishonest.Back in 2021 I came into Dropout Cyclery to get my 2017 40th year anniversary SE Bikes Big Ripper worked on. (Bottom bracket, cranks, and brakes install).I had done some research around some shops near me. Dropout had great reviews and even had a youtube about them. I really resonated with Jonathan when he said he was depressed until he started riding. Riding my bike really did help me with my life. The first day I came into this shop, Jonathan told me, "He charges by the hour." I left my bike here for a bottom bracket, cranks, and brakes install. For a day or two. I was charged around 300 dollars for that. Now after riding for a couple years now, I believe that is shady business practices. He had also scratched my brand new purple cranks during install. Never really had them work on my bike after that but I would come in and support the shop by buying things even bringing my friends. But he fixed my bike up and really did get me riding til this day. I truly became passionate about cycling.Last two times I came in this year, I had an awesome asian dude look at my SE 2024 Fast Ripper. I liked how when I first came in, he put my bike on the stand and diagnosed the problem right away. I also appreciated how he can tell how I put my heart into riding and customizing my bike. I left my bike for a rear brake bleed and pad change. The next day I had got a call back from Jonathan, my bike was ready to be picked up. When I came into the shop, I had got a condecending attitude from Jonathan. He said, "oh this is your bike?" He charged me around 75 dollars for that brake bleed and pad change.I come back a couple months later. To get my gears adjusted and safely running. I had received a condecending attitude again from Jonathan. He didn't even want to put my bike on his front desk bike stand to diagnose the problem. He said, "You can leave it here, but I am not sure I will be able to fix it." I did not leave my bike there as I did not appreciate the tone and interaction I had with him.A "roadie" specific bike store doesn't know how to adjust gears and derailleur? I feel like Jonathan just looks down on my bike and the type of riding I do. Which really makes me sad because I am truly passionate about all bikes and all types of cycling. Riding my bike is my therapy.TLDR ; Dropout cyclery will overcharge you and look down upon you if you ride any "wheelie bike" or SE bike.
Jan 25, 2025 · Final DAmazing bike shop. The staff is always friendly and will answer all your questions. Their prices are great and repairs are out in a timely manner. If you need a bike shop this is the place.
Jun 06, 2025 · Michael LeBoufHad a great experience today at this bike shop. Went in too fix a flat tire on my ebike on my lunch break. Team was friendly and cost was reasonable. They even adjusted my brakes for me. Know doubt I'll be going back there to service my bike again.
