I'm writing in response to Thomas' review from over the weekend (March 1st, 2025) as I was witness to the entire, VERY awkward, interaction.Thomas had a very nice, expensive - and what looked bespoke - bike and received a quote he wasn't happy with. He belittled Mike's pricing for the additional chains + service, and said "On Amazon, its $30! I have no money. I'm broke. I'll think about it and decide later." Very reactive and emotionally charged energy. As a consumer, Thomas has full autonomy to make decisions best for his situation and can go elsewhere. In a way that should be professional and leads with kindness. When Mike went back into the shop, Thomas and I briefly exchanged a few words about the chains probably being worse quality on Amazon anyways and I said "Mike's good." and he agreed and considered going to him just for the service after purchasing the chains.I've been going to get my bike done at Mike's since I moved into the neighborhood a few years ago. He's hard worker, does great work, pumps my bike's tires free of charge, and is always made available. As for vibes that Thomas mentioned? On Saturday when I had to watch Thomas act so reactively and judgmental, Mike greeted my raggedy 70s cycling bike with "Hey, its your piece of Schwinn." First of all, that's funny. And that's Mike's humor.Toughen up and heal your inner child, Sir Thomas! This is mid-city, not Weho. - Maggie Drew
