My go to bike shop. I absolutely love this place have been going to Herb's for many years for bikes, parts and everythingelse bicyclerelated. Contrary to what people are saying about pricing I have to argue the fact that I believe his prices are right on market prices. I have bought many bikes for many years from here and have never had one problem. I travel from miles away from well out of town just to make sure this is my first stop for anything I need bike related. I'm not local and I make sure that this place is always my first choice as the business is great. Jacob is a great all around guy and is honest and fair at what he does. Would recommend to anyone 10 out of 10 hands down. Thanks for another bike Jacob one happy customer South beach blue baby let's f'n gooooo - JERS209

Herb Bauer Cycling Introduce

Hello, California cyclists! When it comes to finding a local bicycle store in Fresno, Herb Bauer Cycling is a name that comes to mind for many. For Californians, especially those in the Central Valley, having access to a local bike shop that can cater to diverse cycling interests is important for enjoying our state's many trails and roads.

Herb Bauer Cycling has a history in the Fresno area, as it emerged from the long-standing Herb Bauer Sporting Goods. After the larger sporting goods store closed its doors, a few members of the bike department felt it was essential to keep the cycling scene alive in Fresno. Thus, Herb Bauer Cycling was born, carrying forward a legacy of expertise and customer service that the original store was known for. This continuation of service makes them a familiar presence for many long-time local riders.

The shop strives to cater to various cycling disciplines, with a particular focus on BMX bikes, but also offering other types of bicycles and parts. They aim to provide good advice and guidance on upgrades and repairs, aspiring to be a go-to spot for everything bike-related. However, like any business, customer experiences can vary, and it's important for local users to be informed about the range of feedback available to make the best decision for their specific needs.

For the passionate cyclist, a local bike shop is more than just a place to buy gear; it's a community hub where advice is shared, and support is found. • Focus on BMX and Parts: Their web store explicitly states a focus on "only the best parts and accessories for BMX and soon MTB," suggesting a specialization in these areas.

For residents of Fresno and the wider California Central Valley, Herb Bauer Cycling presents itself as a local option for their cycling needs, particularly if they are interested in BMX bikes or specialized parts. The shop carries a legacy from the original Herb Bauer Sporting Goods, aiming to continue a tradition of expertise and service within the local cycling community.

One of the significant positives highlighted by a long-term, loyal customer is the consistent "great business" and fair dealings over many years, praising individuals like Jacob for their honesty and reliable service. This kind of consistent positive relationship over an extended period is highly valued by local Californians seeking trustworthy businesses for their hobbies and transportation needs. The claim that prices are "right on market prices" also suggests that customers can expect fair value for their purchases.

However, it is crucial for potential local customers to be aware of the very serious and detailed negative review from February 2025, which alleges theft of original bike parts during a service appointment and subsequent denial by the shop, even with photographic evidence. This type of severe complaint regarding integrity and customer trust is extremely significant and should be weighed heavily. For any Californian taking their valuable bike in for service, the advice to "Video every part or even take pictures of your bike before you have them fix or service what you have" becomes a critical cautionary note when considering this particular shop.

While Herb Bauer Cycling aims to provide a comprehensive service for bikes and parts, and has garnered strong loyalty from some customers, the contrasting recent negative experience highlights potential inconsistencies in service or trust. For any local in California, especially in the Fresno area, who relies on their bicycle for transportation or recreation, due diligence is highly recommended before engaging in service, particularly for repairs involving valuable or original parts. While some may find it their "go-to bike shop," others have had deeply troubling experiences, making it essential for locals to exercise caution and perhaps gather more recent, diverse feedback before entrusting their bikes to the shop for service.
