Ecotric bike shop Introduce
Welcome to the Ecotric Bike Shop, located in Oakland, California. As electric bikes (e-bikes) continue to grow in popularity across the Golden State, more Californians are exploring these innovative modes of transportation for commuting, recreation, and adventure. Ecotric Bike Shop, as a local presence for the Ecotric brand, focuses on providing electric bicycles, primarily through a direct-to-consumer model.
This article aims to provide an overview of Ecotric Bike Shop in Oakland, drawing from publicly available information and customer feedback. We will cover their location and accessibility, the general services associated with the Ecotric brand, and common features highlighted in customer experiences. Our goal is to offer a factual and informative perspective for local users in California considering an Ecotric e-bike.
Ecotric, as a brand, emphasizes making electric bikes accessible by offering competitive pricing, often achieved through an online-first sales model where bikes are shipped directly to the consumer, usually requiring some assembly upon arrival. The Oakland location serves as a physical touchpoint, potentially for local pickups, technical support, or warranty claims, though the primary sales channel often remains online. Understanding this business model is key when considering Ecotric, as it differs from traditional full-service bicycle shops that typically handle all assembly, repairs, and comprehensive in-store support.
For many Californians, e-bikes offer an appealing alternative to traditional bicycles or even cars, especially in urban environments with hills or for those looking to extend their riding range with less physical effort. Ecotric models often feature fat tires and powerful motors, designed for versatility across various terrains, from city streets to light off-road trails. The appeal of affordability makes Ecotric a consideration for those entering the e-bike market without a large initial investment.
It is important for potential buyers to research thoroughly and understand the full scope of products and services. The online nature of the business means that hands-on technical support and complex repairs may be handled differently than with a local, independent bike shop. This article will provide available details to help locals navigate their options when considering Ecotric for their cycling needs in California.
Ecotric Bike Shop is located at 7307 Edgewater Dr Suite D, Oakland, CA 94621, USA. This address places the shop within Oakland, a major city in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The Edgewater Drive area is typically characterized by commercial and industrial businesses, often with good accessibility via local roads.
For residents of Oakland and surrounding East Bay communities like Alameda, San Leandro, and Berkeley, the location is generally accessible by car. Potential customers should confirm parking availability in the vicinity, which is often crucial when transporting an e-bike, particularly for service. Given its location in an industrial park setting, direct public transportation access might require a short walk or connection from main routes, so planning your visit accordingly is advisable.
While a physical presence in Oakland offers a local point of contact, it is important to remember that Ecotric primarily operates as an online retailer, with this location potentially serving as a regional office, warehouse, or service center rather than a traditional retail showroom with extensive walk-in services. Customers are encouraged to contact the store directly to understand the specific services available at this physical address before visiting. This approach ensures that local Californians can make informed decisions about how to best interact with Ecotric for their e-bike needs.
Based on the nature of Ecotric as an electric bicycle brand and the provided customer feedback, the services typically associated with Ecotric Bike Shop in Oakland primarily revolve around the sale and support of their e-bike products.
- Electric Bicycle Sales: Ecotric offers a range of electric bicycles, including fat tire models like the "Hammer" and "Seagull," as well as other styles such as folding e-bikes, city e-bikes, and mountain e-bikes. These are generally sold at competitive price points, often through their online platform.
- Parts and Accessories Sales: While a dedicated retail inventory in the Oakland shop isn't explicitly detailed, Ecotric, as a brand, offers replacement parts (e.g., batteries, controllers, chargers) and accessories for their specific bike models, typically available for purchase online. The Oakland location may facilitate order fulfillment or technical support for these parts.
- Warranty Claims and Support: Ecotric bikes come with a limited warranty, often 18 months for core components like the frame, battery, motor, controller, and display. The Oakland location may serve as a point of contact for processing warranty claims, though customers often initiate these through online channels or customer service hotlines. It is crucial for customers to understand the specific terms and conditions of this warranty, as outlined by Ecotric.
- Technical Support: While the primary customer service and technical support channels appear to be online (email) and via phone, the Oakland physical location may provide a point of contact for technical assistance or diagnostics for Ecotric bike owners in the local area.
It is important to note that, given the business model of selling direct-to-consumer, the services offered at the physical Oakland location may be more limited compared to a conventional, independent bike shop that provides comprehensive repair services for all brands, professional assembly, and extensive in-person consultation. Customers looking for these services should verify directly with Ecotric Bike Shop.
Based on the provided information, the features and highlights of Ecotric Bike Shop primarily reflect the characteristics of the Ecotric brand and its customer interactions. It's important to provide a balanced view, incorporating both positive and negative feedback as presented.
- Affordable Electric Bikes: Ecotric aims to offer electric bicycles at competitive prices, making e-bike ownership more accessible to a wider range of customers in California. This affordability is a key selling point for their models.
- Diverse E-bike Models: The brand offers various e-bike styles, including fat tire bikes (like the Hammer and Seagull), folding bikes, and mountain e-bikes, catering to different riding preferences and terrains, from city commuting to off-road adventures.
- Direct-to-Consumer Model: Ecotric primarily operates through an online sales model, which often contributes to their lower price points by cutting out traditional retail overheads. Bikes are typically shipped for self-assembly or require professional assembly.
- Customer Feedback on Performance (Initial): Some customers report positive initial experiences with the power and ride quality of their Ecotric bikes, appreciating features like strong motors and effective pedal assist, as well as ease of assembly from provided videos.
- Potential for Design/Durability Concerns: Critical customer reviews highlight serious concerns regarding component durability, specifically a fractured seat post on a "Hammer" model after significant mileage, leading to safety implications. Issues with battery longevity on another bike were also reported, raising questions about long-term reliability for some users, particularly heavier riders.
- Customer Service Responsiveness Variances: While Ecotric's website states 48-hour (or 72-hour on weekends) response times for email inquiries and lists phone numbers for technical support and customer service, conflicting customer experiences indicate challenges in receiving timely and satisfactory resolutions for warranty issues or order discrepancies, including disconnected phone numbers and unfulfilled refund requests through non-traditional payment methods like Zelle.
- Warranty Policy Limitations: The 18-month warranty period for core components, while stated, has been a point of contention for customers whose issues arose shortly after this period expired or where claims were denied based on perceived misuse, even if the user reported using the product as intended. Consumable components like tires and brake pads are generally not covered.
For individuals in the California region looking to contact Ecotric Bike Shop in Oakland, here is the provided contact information. Please note that based on customer feedback, it is advisable to be prepared for potential variations in communication responsiveness.

Additionally, Ecotric's official website often lists alternative contact methods such as email for customer service and technical support, which may be a primary channel for communication given the brand's online-centric business model. It is always recommended to verify contact details and operational hours directly before making a visit or attempting to resolve an issue.
Ecotric Bike Shop in Oakland, CA, primarily serves as a local point of contact for the Ecotric brand, which focuses on providing affordable electric bicycles directly to consumers across California. For locals in the Bay Area, this can be an accessible option for those specifically interested in purchasing Ecotric e-bikes, which are often priced competitively compared to other e-bike brands on the market. The availability of a physical address in Oakland might offer a tangible presence for customers who prefer a local pick-up point or have inquiries that might benefit from an in-person interaction, as opposed to solely online engagement.
The appeal for many Californians lies in the brand's commitment to making e-bike ownership more attainable. Ecotric's range of models, including fat tire bikes and various styles suitable for different terrains, can cater to diverse local needs, whether for urban commuting in Oakland's varied landscape or for exploring the many trails and recreational areas throughout California. For individuals who are mechanically inclined or comfortable with some self-assembly and maintenance, the direct-to-consumer model combined with the affordability could present a cost-effective entry into the e-bike world.
However, based on available public data and customer feedback, potential local customers should approach Ecotric Bike Shop with a clear understanding of its business model and the experiences reported by others. While the initial purchase cost may be attractive, concerns have been raised regarding the long-term durability of some components, specifically seat posts and batteries, and challenges in resolving warranty or customer service issues. Instances of communication difficulties, including disconnected phone numbers for customer service and unresolved refund requests, suggest that the after-sales support experience can vary significantly.
Therefore, for locals in California considering Ecotric Bike Shop, it is most suitable for those who prioritize initial affordability and are aware that their primary interaction might be with an online-focused brand. Those who require extensive in-person customer service, immediate complex repairs for non-Ecotric bikes, or a robust and consistently seamless warranty process might find the experience differs from that of a traditional full-service local bike shop. It is highly recommended that potential customers conduct thorough research, examine the warranty terms closely, and consider the balance between initial cost savings and potential long-term support needs when making a purchasing decision from Ecotric Bike Shop in Oakland.

Ecotric bike shop Reviews
Bought a Hammer in 2022. Have ridden it approximately 3,000 miles. Loved it until the seat post broke. Almost crashed and broke my neck when it unexpectedly failed at approximately 20+ mph!!! Called to find out if the warranty covers... Only 18 months! Nope???!!! Blamed me and told me the seat post was too high even though it was half way up and not marked to go above a certain height. Customer service told me "they've had this problem before on at least 3 bikes." Bottom line, these bikes are dangerous and have safety issues. Aluminum is too thin. See picture below. Buyer beware! If you are a heavier taller rider, weigh over 200lbs, and buy one of these otherwise great bikes, I highly recommend reinforcing the seat post with aluminum strips before it breaks. I got the aluminum from Home Depot, sanded and JB Welded it then added hose clamps. I still can't believe this company hasn't reached out to me and offered me a replacement frame for pointing out this obvious dangerous flaw for this otherwise great bike! Think it's a liability??? Please other Hammer owners that have had this problem post here. Honestly, I loved this bike till this happened and probably sold dozens of them. I take the ferry to San Francisco with all the other bikers and they now laugh at me and my repair. Literally the worst advertising for EcoTric Bikes, as everyone asks about the hose clamps. LOL! P.S. Bought a Seagull for my wife too. Has less than 2 miles on it. Battery died so it's garbage now. No help under the warranty from this bike too. Over $2,000 wasted on 2 bikes!!! I should have bought from a more reputable company. Don't make the same mistake I did. See pictures. Complete 馃惔馃挬
Jun 11, 2024 路 0 0Ordered parts for bike. They had us pay through Zelle (odd) told us later they don't have the parts and if we want a refund we would have to Zelle more money. Someone needs to shut them down! James McIntyre is who we worked with and sent a Zelle to. I have demanded a refund and there is no response. The phone number is disconnected for Ecotric customer service on the website and this bike show in Oakland number is incorrect. This is the address James has on the invoice.
Apr 25, 2025 路 Tina KingThey are a total scam and all should be arrested I had paid through zelle and never received the product and they won't refund my money someone tell me how to call the local police and get them shut down
Jun 17, 2025 路 DJ IatarolaLove the bikes we bought, but the battery (especially on the Lark) has a very short lifetime. Am up for my third battery now.The first replacement I was able to get after an escalation when it was marked as "Sold out" for several months. For my next replacement I have been waiting for more than 6 months and am asked to wait for another 3 months. My daughter has not been able to drive to school for 6+ months and am forced to buy a new bike, just because replacement batteries are not available.
Apr 19, 2023 路 David van der GeerIf I could put no stars I would. I purchased a bike from them and only had it a week and the fender broke while riding it and the next day it would not start. I have tried calling only to get voicemail. The mail box it full so you can鈥檛 leave a message same for tech support. I have emailed them twice and still no response. I tried to call the store in California but it鈥檚 either busy or just rings. I am out my six hundred dollars for a bike I only rode twice and had for only a week. This is the worst company ever they sell shoddy products and have zero customer service. Buyer beware do not purchase from this company. They are a scam.
