Westside Joe's Bikes Reviews
Brought my road bike in for a tune-up after it had been sitting for a couple years. When I arrived, no one was at the front. I waited around five minutes before someone finally appeared — not sure if he was the mechanic or the owner, but he asked me to Venmo the owner directly and pay upfront, which was around $200. Seemed sketchy, but I went along with it.When I picked the bike up, it rode okay, but it was still completely covered in dust — which is ridiculous for a $200 tune-up. The least they could do is wipe it down.I also asked if they could take a quick look at my girlfriend’s brand new e-bike because of a minor brake noise, and the owner said it would cost another $200 just to inspect it. No offer to even glance at it or hear it out.The whole place gives off strange vibes — unprofessional and overpriced. Since then, I’ve gone to Alameda Bicycle instead. They were super friendly, and when they noticed my tire was low, they topped it off for free. That’s the kind of service I’ll keep going back to.Avoid Westside Joe’s. Not worth your time or money.
Jun 30, 2025 · Brandon HHad some issues getting into contact with the shop after I dropped it off and wasn't able to get updates for more than a week. However, Vivian recognized the mistakes that lead to it and ultimately made things right, which is all I could ask for.Good experience, nice people, and after the work at the shop, my bike rides the best it has since I bought it despite tune-ups at other shops.
Apr 21, 2025 · Christopher WalkerRented a bike at Alameda location. Friendly staff and a fun time riding while in town. I can recommend as a good option to get a bike when away from home and your bike. Was able to rent a Cannondale speed rush lefty 26" full squish with 3x9 set up.
May 14, 2025 · Mikael Dickinson3 stars so far. Goal is to get a child's bike tuned up. We called around and got quotes from different shops and decided on an independent shop over the larger chain sports stores like Sports Basement. When we arrived we were told a higher price. Clerk had to go speak with someone to get the quote we were told on the phone. After a week I called the shop for an update and was told they could rush it to have it done on Saturday. In the shop we didn't ask how long it would take but I didn't think 2 weeks for a simple tune on a children's bike. My expectations might be off, but this timeline was not discussed when we were in the shop so I just assumed, a few days or a week.
Jun 12, 2025 · Matthew RoderiguesPaid $80 for 2 pair of shimano disc brake pads that sell for $20 online. The woman behind the counter was talking down about the brand of brakes I requested and said they were worn down. I got home and switched out my brake pads and my brakes weren’t worn at all but contaminated with grease. I recommend avoiding them for parts and just ordering online, I was in a pinch and needed the brakes for next commute…Sunday surge pricing I suppose?
