G & K Bicycles Introduce
Hello, California cyclists! If you're searching for a local bicycle store in North Hollywood, you might come across G & K Bicycles. Situated in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, this shop appears to cater to various cycling needs, from parts to potential repairs. For many in California, a reliable local bike shop is essential for maintaining their ride, finding necessary components, or even embarking on a restoration project.
North Hollywood, a vibrant community within Los Angeles, is home to a diverse cycling population, from daily commuters to recreational riders and enthusiasts working on classic bikes. Having a neighborhood shop that can assist with these varied requirements is valuable. This article will provide an overview of G & K Bicycles, outlining its location, the services it might offer, and important considerations based on recent customer feedback, to help users in the California region make informed decisions about their cycling needs.
The success of a local bicycle store often hinges on its ability to provide not only the right products but also excellent customer service and technical expertise. For bike owners, especially those passionate about restoring older models or needing specific parts, finding a trustworthy and helpful shop is paramount. While G & K Bicycles aims to serve this community, recent experiences shared by customers highlight aspects that potential visitors should be aware of.
---G & K Bicycles is located at 6326 Laurel Canyon Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606, USA. Laurel Canyon Boulevard is a well-known and busy thoroughfare that runs through a significant portion of the San Fernando Valley, making the shop quite accessible for residents of North Hollywood and surrounding areas such as Valley Village, Studio City, and Sherman Oaks. Its location on such a major street ensures good visibility and relatively straightforward access by car. There are usually various parking options in commercial areas along Laurel Canyon Blvd, though specific parking availability at the shop's immediate vicinity would need to be confirmed upon arrival.
Being situated in North Hollywood places G & K Bicycles within a densely populated urban environment, making it a convenient stop for many local cyclists. The accessibility of a physical store allows customers to bring their bikes in for assessment, browse parts in person, and engage directly with staff, which is often preferred for more technical or specific needs compared to online-only purchasing.
The store's operating hours, based on available public data, are typically Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with Tuesdays typically closed. It's always advisable to confirm current hours before visiting.
---Based on the general nature of a "bicycle store" and the limited, but telling, customer reviews, G & K Bicycles likely offers the following services and products:
- Bicycle Parts Sales: Customers have mentioned purchasing parts from the store, indicating that they stock a range of components for various bikes. This would include essential items for repairs, upgrades, or restoration projects (e.g., specialized bolts, tires, etc.).
- Bicycle Air: A customer mentioned that "air was free," indicating that the shop provides a basic service for cyclists to inflate their tires.
- Potential for Bicycle Repair/Assistance: While not explicitly detailed as a full-service repair shop, the nature of customer inquiries (e.g., asking to borrow a wrench to remove a bolt, working on a bike restoration) suggests that they may offer, or be perceived to offer, some level of mechanical assistance or repair. However, the experiences shared indicate limitations in this area, particularly regarding loaning tools or direct, immediate assistance for specific tasks.
It is crucial for potential customers to be aware of significant concerns highlighted in recent customer reviews regarding the actual delivery of services, particularly concerning:
- Return Policy and Promises: One customer explicitly stated a negative experience where they were allegedly promised a refund (albeit a partial one) for a part over the phone, only to be told upon arrival that returns were not accepted. This discrepancy in communication and failure to honor perceived commitments is a major point of concern.
- Customer Service and Communication: Multiple reviews describe very negative interactions with the staff or owners. Allegations include:
- Being "yelled at" and showing "NO customer service skills what so ever."
- Calling a customer "aggressive" during a misunderstanding, despite the customer attempting to clarify.
- Leaving "no room for me to explain myself" and walking away from a customer.
- A perceived lack of care for customer satisfaction beyond the sale.
- Tool Loan/Assistance Policy: The shop explicitly states a policy against loaning tools, which, while a fair business decision, can be a point of friction for customers expecting a certain level of community support from a local bike shop.
- Overall Business Conduct: One customer expressed that "This business is a joke. As a business owner myself, that's not how you treat customers or keep a business. All he wants is your money. Doesn't care if the product is right or not." This reflects a severe dissatisfaction with the fundamental approach to customer relations.
These points strongly suggest that while G & K Bicycles may stock parts, the customer experience, particularly around returns and general interpersonal interactions, has been highly problematic for some individuals.
---When considering G & K Bicycles, it's essential to present any potential positives alongside the significant customer feedback.
- Local Presence in North Hollywood: The shop provides a physical location in North Hollywood for sourcing bicycle parts, which can be convenient for immediate needs for some residents.
- Availability of Bicycle Parts: Customers have purchased parts, indicating that the store does maintain an inventory of bicycle components. This can be useful for those seeking specific items for repair or restoration.
- Free Air for Tires: The provision of free air for tires is a basic, but helpful, amenity for cyclists passing by.
- Potential for Specialized Knowledge (Implied): A shop that has been in business for some time and deals in parts would presumably have staff with some level of technical knowledge about bicycles and their components, even if customer interactions have been challenging.
However, it is crucial to temper these with the significant negative highlights from customer experiences:
- Inconsistent Communication and Broken Promises: The most prominent negative highlight is the reported discrepancy between phone promises (e.g., partial refund) and in-store execution (no returns accepted), leading to a perception of dishonesty or poor internal communication.
- Poor Customer Service and Disrespectful Interactions: Multiple reviews highlight instances of rude, aggressive, or dismissive behavior from staff or owners, including yelling at customers and refusing to allow customers to clarify misunderstandings.
- Perceived Discrimination: One customer specifically felt "very uncomfortable" due to a perceived discriminatory interaction based on their skin tone, calling it "very discriminatory," which is a severe allegation that fosters an unwelcoming environment.
- Lack of Problem Resolution: The reluctance to assist with a simple bolt removal or to provide a return label for what a customer perceived as a store mistake, forcing escalation (e.g., to a bank), points to a poor approach to conflict resolution.
- Unwelcoming Atmosphere: The overall tone of the negative reviews suggests an environment where customers feel uncomfortable, disrespected, and not valued, leading to a strong recommendation to "Go somewhere else."
These substantial negative highlights, particularly concerning customer service and business integrity, significantly impact the overall impression of G & K Bicycles and should be carefully considered by any potential visitor.

Address: 6326 Laurel Canyon Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606, USA
Phone: (818) 509-9250
Mobile Phone: +1 818-509-9250
Given the strong feedback regarding communication issues, it would be advisable to ensure all important details are confirmed in writing if making arrangements over the phone, especially concerning returns or specific services.
---For residents of North Hollywood and the broader California cycling community, the suitability of G & K Bicycles as a local resource warrants a very cautious approach. While a local bicycle shop on a main thoroughfare like Laurel Canyon Blvd could ideally serve as a convenient hub for parts and simple needs like free air, the comprehensive and severe negative feedback from recent customers presents significant concerns.
A truly suitable local business thrives on positive customer relations, clear communication, and a willingness to resolve issues fairly. The reviews for G & K Bicycles, however, consistently highlight significant shortcomings in these critical areas, including alleged broken promises regarding returns, highly aggressive and dismissive customer service interactions, and even accusations of discriminatory behavior. These experiences can lead to a deeply uncomfortable and unsatisfactory visit for customers.
While the store may stock bicycle parts, the overriding concerns about customer treatment and the reported challenges with basic business practices (like honoring return policies discussed over the phone) suggest that potential patrons in California should exercise extreme caution. For locals seeking a reliable, respectful, and customer-focused bicycle shop in North Hollywood for their parts, repairs, or cycling needs, it would be prudent to thoroughly research alternative options that have a more consistent record of positive customer satisfaction and professional conduct. The negative experiences shared indicate that, for many, this establishment currently does not offer the kind of supportive and welcoming environment that a local community typically expects from its service providers.

G & K Bicycles Reviews
They told me that they would be able to refund me for this part I bought from them. They said they would be able to give me less than half of what I paid for it, for one thing. Then they waited to tell me when I got to the store that they don’t accept Returns. Horrible service. Go somewhere else. Please ignore his comment back to me, because no they did not warn me that I won’t be able to return it. They told me on the phone that I would get 20 bucks for it (even though I paid $50). They did not follow through on their promise.
Nov 10, 2024 · Dustin HagenI am working on restoring my belated grampa's old bike that's been sitting in a shed for years. I came in asking to borrow a rench since I didn't have the tool I needed to loosen one last bolt to remove my back wheel so I can put new tires on that I had already had ready. And fairly, I was told that they don't allow for borrowing tools and that air was free.I came back with my bike to hopefully clarify any miscommunication on my end since I struggle with socializing thanks to cptsd I've sustained from my time in the military only to be told I'm acting aggressive. Frankly, it makes me feel very uncomfortable that you would treat any guest this way, and being the only person of light skin tone in the store felt very discriminatory. I really hope that's not the case, but the owners left no room for me to explain myself. Please do explain to me as to what you consider to be aggressive behavior and how I was specifically being aggressive?Secondly, I acknowledge you were right, and it's fair not to loan out tools. My question to you was, can you remove the bolt for me, and you walked away from me, calling me aggressive.Thirdly, I never called and showed up at random, and I may not have contributed to part of whatever your community is, but I absolutely did serve this country with the documents to prove it.Lastly, what is your definition of community?

May 05, 2025 · T LasampoFriendly staff. Knowledgeable on their products. Lots of new and used bikes of all colors and sizes.
Jan 10, 2021 · Jordan SExtremely disappointed with my visit. The staff, especially one guy, was incredibly unhelpful. It felt like my presence was an inconvenience to him. This shop clearly doesn’t care about its customers. Not a place I’d recommend to anyone.
