For residents of Carlisle and the surrounding areas in Pennsylvania, Cole's Bicycles Inc presents itself as a long-standing local option for various cycling needs. Its suitability for locals can be viewed through the lens of its accessibility, its range of services, and the specific positive experiences reported by some customers, while also acknowledging areas of concern raised by others.
Firstly, the **central location on N Hanover St** in Carlisle offers convenience for many within the immediate vicinity. While current construction may necessitate using their back parking lot, the overall accessibility within a compact town like Carlisle means that for many daily cycling needs—from quick tune-ups to Browse new bikes—it remains a relatively easy destination. Having a physical shop within the community provides an immediate resource that online-only alternatives cannot replicate, offering in-person advice and hands-on service.
Secondly, Cole's Bicycles Inc offers a **comprehensive array of services**, aiming to be a one-stop shop for cyclists. Their wide selection of bike styles, including children's bikes, road, mountain, and electric models, provides choices for various riders. The presence of an "open air mechanic facility" for repairs, tune-ups, and overhauls means locals have a designated place to bring their bikes for maintenance. The emphasis on bike fitting, with experienced staff, is a valuable service that can significantly enhance a rider's comfort and performance, ensuring that whether you're buying new or adjusting an old friend, your bike is tailored to you. The unique "Women's Room" also indicates an effort to cater to specific customer segments.
However, local users should consider a range of feedback when evaluating suitability. While some customers, like the one praising Cinda and Will for "excellent customer service and quick turnaround time for a bike tune-up," highlight positive interactions and efficient service, other reviews express significant dissatisfaction regarding pricing, product selection, staff knowledge, and perceived customer service issues from the owners. The concern about a limited range of "mid-level bikes" and the specific feedback on brand exclusion due to non-business reasons might be important for customers seeking a wide array of options or those who value specific brands.
In conclusion, Cole's Bicycles Inc in Carlisle is a established local bicycle shop with a physical presence and a range of services from sales to repairs and fittings. For those in search of convenient tune-ups and potentially a specific type of bike, and who appreciate a dedicated section for women's cycling needs, it presents an option. However, for those with specific brand preferences, budget constraints on parts and repairs, or expectations for a certain level of direct customer engagement from owners, it may be beneficial to consider the full spectrum of local feedback and potentially explore other local options like Gung Ho, Cycle Works, or Holmes Cycling, which some customers highly recommend.

Cole's Bicycles Inc Reviews
Excellent customer service and quick turnaround time for a bike tune-up. Cinda and Will are so kind and helpful. Will definitely come to Cole's for all of my cycling needs.
May 09, 2025 · Kara ShifferHorrible bicycle shop. Im 45 & have traveled the world via bicycle and been to more bicycle shops than i can count.Issue 1: the husband and wife owners barely say hi to customers as they come in.Issue 2: the staff has very limited knowledge of bicycle parts, bicycle repair and etc.issue 3: incredibly overpriced parts and repair service charge. You are far better buying online, then getting price gauged for parts here. Why do the simplest things like chains, handlebars, stems, headset spacers, etc ALL cost 3X what online bike shops and amazon charge?????Issue 4: you either have options for super high end bikes or you have absolute garbage bikes for the sub $1000 mark, why are there no mid level bikes?Issue 5: the husband and wife owners, when i asked them why they dont carry ALOT of the most reliable and proven brands, they literally said, “we do not buy bike parts from any company based in california”, i asked why& and she stated, “california is trash and we dont support businesses that support california”. Fair enough, but thats a huge problem when you purposely EXCLUDE your customers from some tthe highest wuality products, at the lowest prices, in the bicycle world. A personal choice that leads to negative repercussions to customers. THIS is why i always go to Gung Ho, Cycle works or Holmes cycling. They all know EXACTLY what they are doing.Recommendations: Personally, i think its time for this couple to close up shop and retire. The bicycle industry is eating them alive and they are offering NOTHING to the area, that others couldnt do for better, cheaper & in a more professional way.
Jun 25, 2025 · Source FogThe people at Cole's have treated me so well when I have taken my kids' bikes in for replacement of tune-ups. My son rode his bike and said, "Wow! It's so smooth." He has so much control with this bike and like it. I never realized the quality difference of a good bike. He's so happy riding his bike. Thanks mam and Cole's members!
Sep 13, 2024 · Kanat BarmanbaevI cannot say enough good things about Cole’s. Cinda was extremely knowledgeable and went way above and beyond to help me purchase the perfect accessories for my needs. Definitely the friendliest bike shop I have ever been to. She has earned my business for life.
Sep 11, 2024 · Tim MarquissI walked my bike into Cole's Bike Repair for an estimate and they gave me a reasonable expectation. I later dropped off my bike and got the estimate. I later received a call from the owner and he explained that the damage to my bike was so severe that he didn't think it was wroth fixing. He suggested I purchase a different bike so I visited the shop to look around and they had a few nice little bikes, but I couldn't do that to myself because the bike I dropped off actually was a gift from my mother whom passed away some years ago from Pancreatic Cancer. I told the gentlemen that I wanted them to repair my bike and they did exactly that. I took my bike out of their shop after it was paid and the bike rode perfectly, it did everything I needed it to do...I wasn't ready to move on from the bike my mother gave me as I see it as something to remember her by...The gentlemen at Cole's Bike Repair are professional, honest and thorough in their work. I highly recommend this shop for all your bicycle needs!
