Bicycle Habitat Reviews
First off, the staff were friendly and upfront. Given the location, I expected the service to be on the pricier side, which I totally understand. However, my experience left me a bit disappointed. It started one evening when my eBike’s rear tire (20x3) popped, probably due to construction on the street at the time. I went into the shop asking for a flat tire repair, and they told me it needed to be replaced, quoting me $185. I was shocked at first but convinced myself that the price made sense considering the location. About 15 minutes later, my bike was ready, and I left feeling happy. But as I got closer to home, I realized my battery was completely drained, and pedaling manually was extremely hard. When I checked, I noticed there wasn’t enough space between the tire and the frame (see picture). I took the bike back to the shop and reported the issue, but they weren’t able to fix the issue. It turns out, the tire they installed was a 20x3.3 instead of the recommended 20x3, which was also clearly marked on the original tire.I learned my lesson and paid the $185 for it. I didn’t bother going back for a third time. For anyone reading this review, I’d recommend double-checking their work and testing it thoroughly.I did eventually get the problem fixed. The $185 tire was replaced with a $50 (20x3) tire by a reputable bike shop in Sheepshead Bay area at a much much reasonable price.Next time if I get a flat, I’ll just call an Uber—it’ll be cheaper!
Mar 23, 2025 · Adam WuGreat shop- i've had good repairs here, but what prompted me to post a review was the sales process. Just bought my first road bike, and Chad and Kate were helpful and patient all along the way. Very sound advice, never felt like I was being pressured to buy, and never made me feel ignorant for not really knowing what I wanted. But I'm very pleased with my final purchase; high quality experience from start to finish.
Jun 23, 2025 · Ben FischerTook in my 9 year old Trek for some repair work and a tune-up. The work was done within two days and was exemplary! The communication throughout was excellent. I rode out of there with what felt like a brand new bike! Well done and highly recommended! 👍🏾
Jun 27, 2025 · Arthur HaywoodI visited Habitat without any expectations and left thoroughly impressed by the experience. Kate was knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions. She encouraged me to test the bikes and offered thoughtful recommendations when I expressed concerns about seat height and reach, helping to ensure a more comfortable ride. Her patience and attentiveness stood out, especially as she seamlessly balanced assisting me with helping numerous other customers. Kate provided outstanding service, and I look forward to purchasing my bike from her at Habitat. Highly recommended.
May 19, 2025 · Bernadette SilvaI love this shop more than I can possibly express! The staff are amazing—super knowledgeable, helpful and kind. They make shopping here fun! For being a smallish place, the selection is pretty great, and the prices are reasonable especially considering the upscale area it’s in. They do a lot of business from what I can tell, which is no surprise given the all around great vibes. Highly recommend!
