For anyone in Wisconsin, particularly those in the Kenosha area, Total Cyclery is a highly suitable and deeply integrated local resource for all cycling needs. Its multi-decade presence and commitment to the community solidify its role as a trusted partner for riders of all levels. While recent feedback indicates some minor areas for improvement, the overall strengths of Total Cyclery make it a valuable asset.
Firstly, the shop's status as a second-generation, family-owned business operating since 1986 provides an unparalleled level of local trust and continuity. Robby Gauss, having grown up in the shop, carries forward an "old-school" customer service ethic, prioritizing every customer. This long-standing dedication means that locals aren't just dealing with a business; they're engaging with a part of Kenosha's history that has actively contributed to its biking culture, including involvement in local racing. This inherent community connection makes it a genuinely local choice that understands the specific needs and values of Wisconsin residents.
Secondly, the comprehensive range of services, coupled with fair practices like their used bike trade-in program, directly addresses common local needs. The ability to receive a fair price for an old bike when upgrading simplifies the process for many families and individuals. Moreover, their willingness to service "any and all brands and types of bikes" sets them apart, offering a convenient solution for diverse bike owners. This flexibility, along with generally quick repair turnarounds (often by the next day), ensures that locals can keep their bikes in excellent condition without excessive downtime, crucial for daily commuters and recreational riders alike.
While one customer expressed disappointment regarding minor issues on a new bike and a lack of follow-up, it’s important to view this within the context of numerous positive reviews and decades of service. Such feedback, while valuable for the business to address, does not negate the overall pattern of "good work" and professionalism. The core value propositions—a wide selection, expert repairs, fair trade-ins, and a deep community connection—remain strong. For these reasons, Total Cyclery stands as an indispensable and highly suitable local bike shop in Kenosha, continuing its legacy of serving Wisconsin's cycling community with dedication and expertise.

Total Cyclery Reviews
Great Local Bike Shop. They do good work and have a great selection of bikes and accessories. Gives fair prices on used bike trade in. Have purchased several bikes over the years. Highly recommend.
May 05, 2025 · Brent TowleDisappointed - expect better service.I recently picked up my new Cannondale from Total Cyclery. It's a great bike, but I have had 3 problems with it: the Presta valve caps were missing, the handlebars were very loose, and I suspect that the Suntour suspension seat post is installed backwards - based on the photos from Cannondale's website and the fact that it does not work. A bit annoying to have to buy valve caps for a new bike; and I called the shop regarding the seat post. They seemed puzzled by my question - but said that they would respond it I sent a photo - which I did - but have not received a response. All of these are minor items - but part of the reason to support a local bike shop is to trust that they build the bike correctly and will support and address any issues.
Apr 03, 2025 · Tom ChanterRobby is amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, appoachable, answered my questions, gave me options based on price.Brought in a new bike for derailier adjustments. He replaced faulty equipment reasonably. Tuned up bike, tires, brakes, frame, and derailiers for $25(11/4/17). Great inventory and selection of bikes and equipment! First time to Total Cyclery, but absolutely will be a repeat customer. And btw, other shop downtown was "too busy" to help me out. TC will be my first call from now on.
