★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I just shipped my bike all the way from Chicago and to get my tires pumped. I'm not familar with pumping tires because I never had to. The shop I went to in Chicago did it for me and always checked out my bike. They were very helpful. I assumed all bike shops were this way. I came to Urban Bike Shop and was greeted kindly by the owner. Its clear by the questions I was asking that I didn't know how to pump my tires. She said she wasn't able to help me. So I took the instructions and pumped my tires myself. I brought my bike back in and asked her if she could check if I did it right. She did a quick check and said yes. I did quick ride to ensure they were pumped well. I put my bike back in the car. While driving home, I heard a "pop" sound. I checked one of bike the tires. It was flat. I drove back to the Urban Bike Shop to assess the situation. The owner came out again, checked my tires, and surmised that the inner tube popped. She said I'd have to pay to fix it. Now here is where my dissapointment lies. The money is not the issue. An inner tube costs a mere $25. I'm annoyed by the fact that is entire situation could've been avoided if I'd recieved more help. I politely explained my annoyance to the owner. She respectfully listened and explained that her helping me would be liability for the business. She also said that in hindsight, she could've offered for the mechanic to pump my tires but it would be $5/per tire. She also said that the mechanic is busy and it would be hard to help me. I listened to her response and decided that I'll take my bike somewhere else to be fixed. Part of of being a good business owner that serves his/her customers is assessing their needs. It was that I didn't really know what I was doing. And that's no fault of the manager. But I was left to fend for myself when I asked for help. She could've at least checked the PSI which would reveal that my tire was over capacity. That's why this venture receives 2/5 🌟s.
Apr 14, 2025 · Chika DungaMy electric bike had issues and Urban was one of the places that was listed for warranty work. Ozzie did a great job fixing whst needed to be done plus he replaced a tub in a tire from another bike in a matter of 2 minutes. Highly recommend plus they are incredibly nice people
Dec 04, 2024 · Steven PriceI am new to New Jersey and new to using their services. They came highly recommended by a friend and they were right. Honestly, servicing your bike could not be any easier. I booked my appointment online, they sent me an invoice and after paying the fee (which goes towards the final cost of your services), they came and picked it up from my front porch. Within an hour they were calling me with recommended services, sent me an invoice at the end of the day and after paying it this morning, they delivered the bike to my front porch. Beginning to end service was less than 24 hours, it was perfectly executed, and super convenient! Bonus points for not having to take the bike to them. I highly recommend and will use them again. Thank you!!
Sep 30, 2024 · Alicia DI brought my well-ridden Giant hybrid mountain bike to Ozzie for a much needed tune-up. The derailleurs needed adjusting/replacement and the wheels were not spinning true. I was very happy to get the bike back clean and good as new with a detailed explanation of the work performed. Great value and service. Thank you.
Sep 02, 2024 · Andrew HainesI've taken my bike to a lot of shops over the years and most of the time everything goes fine - but I think that when things go wrong, you really get to see what a business is like. After a tune-up, one of the parts that had been replaced on my bike broke due to a manufacturing defect. Not only did Urban Cyclery pick up my bike from my house, they completed the repair and dropped it off that same day. The mechanic called me several times, during the original tune-up, during the second repair and after drop-off to make sure I was satisfied. This, in addition to their friendliness, professionalism and reliability, means I'm happy to trust them with all of my cycling needs!
