PAPERtrail Bike Cafe stands out due to its innovative concept, seamlessly blending a full-service bike shop with a charming cafe. This unique combination caters perfectly to the needs of those exploring the vast trail network of Wissahickon Valley Park, offering a convenient stop for repairs, rentals, or simply a refreshing break. The name "PAPERtrail" itself pays homage to the rich history of its location in Historic Rittenhouse Town, the site of British colonial America's first paper mill established in 1690. This thoughtful repurposing of a unique and storied historical space into a functional and desired experience creates a warm and friendly atmosphere that invites customers to connect with both cycling and history.
Whether you're a seasoned cyclist with specific needs for a custom build, a family looking to rent bikes for a leisurely ride through the park, or a hiker in need of a quick pick-me-up, PAPERtrail Bike Cafe is designed to accommodate. The proprietor and staff are known for their genuine knowledge and passion for bikes, especially when it comes to custom builds, ensuring that every customer receives tailored advice and service. PAPERtrail Bike Cafe boasts an exceptionally scenic and accessible location at 211 Lincoln Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19144, USA. This address places it directly within Historic Rittenhouse Town, a charming and historically significant enclave, and critically, right on the doorstep of the vast Wissahickon Valley Park. The shop's position makes it a natural starting or ending point for countless outdoor activities.
For those traveling by car, Lincoln Drive is a major thoroughfare in Philadelphia that runs alongside the Wissahickon Creek, providing a direct route to the cafe. There is a dedicated parking lot conveniently located next to PAPERtrail Bike Cafe, at the trailhead by Wissahickon Avenue. This makes it straightforward for customers to arrive, park, and access both the shop and the park trails. However, it's worth noting that the interaction with the adjacent Mr. Storage parking lot has seen some challenges, as mentioned in a review regarding bikers' access; customers should be mindful of designated parking areas.
Public transportation to this specific location might require a combination of bus routes and a short walk, as it's nestled into the park area, but it's certainly reachable. However, the primary accessibility strength lies in its direct connection to the Wissahickon Valley Park trail network. Cyclists, hikers, and runners can easily reach the cafe directly via the trails themselves. This means you can integrate a visit to PAPERtrail seamlessly into your outdoor exercise routine, making it an incredibly convenient stop for a mid-ride refuel or a post-hike treat. Its unique setting truly enhances its appeal as a local destination.

PAPERtrail Bike Cafe Reviews
I enjoyed visiting the cafe and beautiful park. I think it has a lot of potential. The coffee however was a fail, I could barely taste the coffee in it and I don’t think it’s worth $8. I loved the snacks though and the option to rent a bike.
Jun 29, 2025 · Kobus GerberSuch a sweet place and an awesome proprietor. I don’t know much about bikes, but he seems to really know his thing especially without respect to custom bikes. Great array of snacks, including freshly baked cookies. And anything you would need for your bike on the trail even footwear.
Aug 29, 2024 · Camille F.A hidden jewel for good coffee nestled in Old Rittenhouse Town, Wissahickon Park. (A Beautiful area to hike or mountain bike (two separate trails) or walk your dog ). It is a coffee shop and bike shop. The surprise was the quality and freshness of the coffee. My Americano was delicious. The beans were freshly ground, and the cup was Full of flavor. The young gentleman that served me (and my dog!) was very friendly and welcoming. There are a couple of picnic tables outside to sit and enjoy your coffee and the beautiful historic Rittenhouse town.
Jan 20, 2024 · Peggy MurphyGood coffee and tasty snack. Great spot for a bite to eat after a ride or hike. Open on even on a cold weekday in January!
Jan 08, 2025 · Stephen MuthThe owner is mostly friendly, though it seems he's very busy and doesn't give the best customer service experience. I felt a bit pushed out of the shop, but saw why: a few minutes after we got our bike bits and cafe items, the place had a line out the door. I'm honestly not sure why, though. The cappuccino and espresso we had were ok for the u.s., but when served in a paper cup, the espresso was immediately luke-warm. I just feel that if you're trying to sell yourself as some trendy cafe bike shop, you ought to be pretty good at both. Prices are sky high for basic bike things, cafe stuff is priced appropriately for Philadelphia. I'm looking for a local bike shop and this definitely won't be it. 3 stars for availability, convenience, and novelty (hip aesthetics).
