Hood Wrench Cycles Introduce
For riders across Colorado, whether you're shredding trails on a mountain bike, commuting through the city, or embracing the thrill of an electric dirt bike, having a reliable and authentic bike shop is paramount. You need a place where the staff truly understands your passion, knows the ins and outs of your machine, and provides service that’s as good as the ride itself. Look no further than Hood Wrench Cycles in Aurora, CO. This isn't just a place to get your bike fixed; it's a hub for enthusiasts, run by riders, for riders, where every wrench turn is infused with genuine care and expertise.
Hood Wrench Cycles has quickly earned a reputation as a "legit bike shop" in the Denver area, praised for its knowledgeable owner, Justin, and its commitment to customer satisfaction. They've become the go-to destination for everything from routine maintenance to complex repairs on traditional and electric bikes, including popular electric dirt bikes like the Talaria Sting MX3 and high-performance e-bikes such as the Motor Goat V3. If you're in Colorado and looking for a bike shop with a "real authentic vibe" and a team that genuinely "knows their stuff and cares about their customers," Hood Wrench Cycles is your destination.
Hood Wrench Cycles is conveniently located at 700 Billings St STE H1, Aurora, CO 80011, USA. Situated in Aurora, a large and diverse city just east of Denver, this location offers excellent accessibility for cyclists across the Denver metropolitan area and surrounding communities. Billings Street provides straightforward access from major thoroughfares, making it easy to reach whether you're coming from central Aurora, Denver, Stapleton, or other nearby suburbs.
The industrial-commercial setting of the shop often provides ample parking, which is a significant advantage, especially when transporting larger electric bikes or dirt bikes. While Aurora is well-served by public transportation, most customers bringing bikes for service will arrive by car, making the ease of parking a key convenience. Its position within a well-connected part of Aurora ensures that whether you're heading out for a ride on local trails or simply need expert attention for your prized two-wheeler, reaching Hood Wrench Cycles is a hassle-free experience for Colorado locals. The authenticity of the shop, as described by customers, begins even with its setting, giving it a true workshop feel.
Comprehensive Bicycle Repair and Maintenance: Hood Wrench Cycles provides a wide array of repair and maintenance services for various types of bicycles. This includes essential tasks like brake and derailleur adjustments, tire/tube installs, and wheel truing. They handle everything from basic safety checks to more in-depth "Standard-ish Tune Ups" that involve wiping down the bike, inspecting components, and ensuring everything is properly adjusted.
Specialized E-Bike and Electric Dirt Bike Service: A key area of expertise for Hood Wrench Cycles is electric bicycles, including high-performance models like the Talaria Sting MX3 and Motor Goat V3. They offer specialized services such as tube/tire installs for hub-driven motor e-bikes and electric dirt bikes (noted to be off-bike installs due to shop size). Their experience with these newer and often more complex machines makes them a go-to for e-bike owners in Colorado. However, it's important to note they do not service e-bike batteries, motors, displays, or throttles, and require the battery to be removed prior to entry.
Advanced Drivetrain and Suspension Services: For more intensive needs, they offer services like "Hood Works MTB," which involves a complete bike wash, disassembly, cleaning and re-lubing of all bearings, and ultrasonic cleaning of drivetrain components (cranks, chain, derailleur(s), cassette). They also provide suspension maintenance, including fork lower leg service (inspecting bushings, installing new dust wipers and foam rings, filling with fresh oil) and shock air can service (cleaning and lubricating air can components, installing new seals).
À La Carte Services: Beyond their package deals, Hood Wrench Cycles offers numerous individual services. These include chain installs, derailleur alignment, brake bleeds (per brake), spoke replacement, bike washes & lubes, wheel builds, and drivetrain cleaning. This flexibility allows customers to address specific issues without committing to a full tune-up if not needed.
Safety Checks (for both Non E-Bike and E-Bike): They provide fundamental safety checks, especially recommended for newly purchased box store bikes or those that have been in storage. These checks involve thoroughly torquing/tightening all nuts/bolts and adjusting derailleurs and brakes, ensuring the bike is in safe operating order. This is a required service for any non-branded throttle/non-throttle e-bike entering the shop.
"Run by Riders, For Riders" Authenticity: This is arguably Hood Wrench Cycles' most compelling feature. Customers immediately sense that the shop is managed by individuals who are passionate cyclists themselves. This translates into a deep understanding of rider needs, genuine care for bikes, and an authentic, non-pretentious atmosphere that resonates strongly with the cycling community in Colorado.
Owner's Expertise and Approachability (Justin): The owner, Justin, is frequently praised for being "super cool," highly knowledgeable ("clearly knows his stuff"), and genuinely caring about his customers. This personal connection and expertise build immense trust and make customers feel confident that their bikes are in capable hands.
Specialization in Electric Bikes/Dirt Bikes: While they service all types of bikes, their ability to competently work on electric bikes, including specific models like Talaria Sting MX3 and Motor Goat V3, is a significant highlight. This specialization caters to a growing segment of the Colorado cycling market, offering a reliable service point for these often complex machines.
Responsive and Reliable Service: Customers appreciate that Hood Wrench Cycles provides efficient service, even handling same-day tire and tube fixes for electric dirt bikes. This responsiveness is crucial for riders eager to get back on the trail or road quickly, showcasing their commitment to minimizing customer downtime.
"Awesome" Shop Vibe: The physical space itself contributes to the positive experience, described as "awesome" and having a "real authentic vibe, like a ton of love and passion went into building it out." This inviting and comfortable atmosphere makes visiting the shop a pleasant experience, rather than just a transaction.

May 09, 2025 · Mark BishopI have an older mountain bike that I wanted to get fixed up and I brought it to this shop. Justin has a huge passion for bikes and his shop is no nonsense/straight to the point. My bike is completely new all except for the frame and I couldn’t be happier. Can’t wait to get out there! He called it a passion project since it was basically remodeled and I’m so grateful for his commitment. Thanks man!
Jun 06, 2025 · Allie CharackyGreat shop! The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely takes the time to walk you through the "why" behind anything you ask. Whether you're new or experienced, they make sure you understand the products and what will work best for you.Additionally he went out of his way to help me get my bike out early so I was able to hit the trail on the same weekend.
Mar 30, 2025 · My name is ChrisJustin was a great help getting me through a coil conversion and a fork upgrade. He has a remarkable attention to detail and gives proper attention to each customer. If you visit the shop, and he is working with a customer, hang out for a minute. His expertise are worth the wait. Dropped my fork off for a 100 hour service thinking I would have it back in a couple of days, two hours later he called with what looked like a brand new 38. Thanks buddy, you have my committed business from here on out.
