Handlebar Cyclery Reviews
I wish I had known about this shop before I got a bike! 10 weeks ago I decided to ride the MS 150. I found them because I needed a fit done for the bike I had purchased. Knee, hand, and neck strain were plaguing my training sessions. After completing a fit and follow up session with Jay, my training sessions were much more enjoyable. His coaching and expertise were a pivotal part of my preparation.I was able to complete 50 miles on Saturday and 80 on Sunday with no pain at all. I'll continue to support this shop how I can. Thanks Jay!
Apr 30, 2025 · Cody PhillipsGreat bicycle shop. I've been getting service with them and making purchases for the past few years. The employees and owner are kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. One of my first interactions: My Kona's brake cable had popped during a ride. I was nearby so I walked it in and they were able to fix within about 20 minutes. I was able to ride home without issue. The shop has a good assortment of accessories available: tools, chain lube, pedals, locks, helmets, clothing, shoes, etc. Even if you can't find something in store, you can order online for more item availability.Service notifications and order quotes are sent via text. Convenient and communicative.Fairly recently they built out an Xtracycle Swoop for my family. This bicycle has been great. While it only has ~250 miles on it, it has been performing very well; used mostly for school drop off, park visits, though I've visited the grocery as well. We've gone as far as La Centerra, a ~15 miles round trip.I also learned HandleBar Cyclery is a Yuba dealer, as well as featuring some Specialized branded bicycles; which is a plus.Purchased a Marin Stinson ST2 for a family member, and the shop has honored the service credits. I installed fenders, rear rack myself over time (in retrospect perhaps should have paid for them to install, but I learned a few things).I have had my older Kona Dew and child's Cube Kid 240 serviced here many times, most recently replacing the shifters on the Kona.Service and products may be a little pricier, but I've never had to worry after a service or after buying a product. Quality work, and fairly quick. One time a product I purchased didn't have all the parts attached to the component. Handlebar Cyclery ordered the missing parts free of charge.Another thing is timing of service. Weekends can get very busy, and the shop may not have physical space to store a bicycle then. Dropping off during the week, or contacting them ahead of time (if possible) often suits better. Mild inconvenience.Cheers to many more good rides!
Jun 21, 2025 · J BEDIT: false, I did not ask for free service. I stated that the bike hadn’t been ridden since we previously paid for work, and you seem to be under the impression that a chain can grow in length. When in reality, you probably hired a bad technician. I’m keeping it real and warning others to not waste money for poor service. Good luck! The worst experience I’ve ever had with a bike shop. Over priced, lip service, and a scam. I have a 1970 vintage bike from France, and it’s been in my garage for 2 years. Recently returned from out of state and noticed the chain is hanging super low. The bike legitimately hasn’t been ridden since they worked on it in circa 2022, and they want to charge me to clip the chain, along with whatever else they want to diagnose. They also refused me service, so I figured I’d spread the word on their horrible business practices. Only gave an extra star because my brother loves this shop. Go elsewhere if you like your money.Hey siri, can a bike chain grow in length while not being ridden?! 🤣
Jun 28, 2025 · Kyle LohseIf you need help installing bike lights to your wheelchair tires, this place does amazing job. Plus, they do have marathon plus tires in stock for wheelchair users like me. They do tend to make wheelchair a priority since this is our legs. Always communicate with the guest about the bike/ wheels or even wheelchairs wheels in service. I would recommend this place to any of my friends and family. Give them a buzz and they will try there best to get you back wheeling around fast!
Nov 23, 2024 · Ashley VoCan't appreciate it enough, we were greatly impressed by the gesture Todd gave us today. He made it so easy in selecting the right size bike for our kid.. He made us comfortable, gave us suggestions and adjusted the setting of the bike so well that ended up purchasing. Thanks much!! We also had a trail ride outside with all safety precautions. Highly recommended!!They also do service here, knowledgeable kind people.
