The Bike Shop Santa Monica Reviews
★☆☆☆☆ Zero stars. Do not recommend. Unsubscribe. If you're in Santa Monica looking for real service and respect, RUN — don't walk — down the block to Bike Attack Electric at 2904 Main St. The difference is night and day.I had one of the worst customer experiences of my life at The Bike Shop SM, and I say that as someone who loves people, animals, and usually finds the good in any situation. Here’s what happened:Abusive behavior: I witnessed the owners scream at and publicly humiliate their own employees. One staff member offered to go above and beyond to get a part for me, and was literally yelled at and kicked out of the shop.Cruelty to animals: They were visibly irritated by the dogs in their shop and even mocked me for being kind to them. If kindness to animals is a red flag to you... I don’t know what to say.Dishonesty and bad vibes: They told me they could do the job if they had the part. When I went to get it myself (from the amazing Bike Attack Electric, by the way), I came back only to be mocked and lied to again. They pretended they were “too busy” while ridiculing me in front of another staffer for being too accommodating.Toxic culture: While I was there, I heard multiple complaints from employees about not getting paid. When they ask for their wages, the owners apparently do a hand wave and say “sometimes there’s money, sometimes there’s not.” That’s not just shady — it’s exploitation. And the kicker? They gloated that their "biggest competitor" (Bike Attack Electric) had gone out of business — which isn’t even true. That shop is thriving and helped me the same day with kindness, professionalism, and zero drama.Bottom line:If you're thinking of going to The Bike Shop SM, don’t. Protect your time, energy, and peace of mind — go literally anywhere else. I recommend Bike Attack Electric wholeheartedly. They treated me with respect and did the job the right way. 🙏There are also tons of great options on Venice beach that’ll do a way better job and bring joy to tour day at the beach✨🌟🎉🌅💐🌟✨
Jul 03, 2025 · A Google UserAndrew was an amazing help! We had a lot of questions and he showed us each e-bike that could fit our needs and didn’t push us into buying anything we weren’t comfortable with. The family atmosphere and customer service, with quality products was hands-down amazing. I highly recommend going to Andrew and trusting their shop and service!
Jun 05, 2025 · Patrick DawsonThis is a great bike shop for out of state cyclists. Drew and his team have outstanding customer service and truly have a passion for cyclists. I had to get by bike broken down to go to the airport. He and his team handled it with such care and ease. I highly recommend them
Jun 10, 2025 · Keesha MasonNice people, which gets them an extra star, but I wouldn’t come here for service.Sent my kid’s bike down and paid for a full tune up and some part replacements. Brake cable run short, they broke multiple proprietary clips and used zip ties on some (not all), didn’t reface the discs as charged for, handlebars crooked, seat crooked, etc. Wife had to remind them they charged us for new pedals on pickup that hadn’t been installed.Overall the kind of experience that makes a visit your last.*** While I appreciate the owner response saying it was a “rust bucket”, and that “obviously the clips were already missing”, i respectfully disagree.
Sep 01, 2024 · Darrell WhitelawAMAZING!! Drew the owner and Chris who worked on my bike provided the most stellar customer service. 7 stars. I highly recommend. The store was buzzing with customers and they made sure to take care of each person's needs no matter what. Also Shoops a few doors down is a great spot for bites and coffee etc.
