Janet and Mel were such a pleasure to work with. My teen has a hard time with bicycles due to balance issues and trikes have been a godsend to help him be outside and more active. But we have a Lectric Trike and it is incredibly unstable. We wanted to try a recumbent bike, and reached out to Janet and Mel via the website. They were warm and friendly, asking lots of questions about my son and what we were looking for. We scheduled a test ride earlier today and I was STRESSED leading up to it. But Janet put me at ease. So patient and direct with us, and explained everything so well. We’re still deciding on what kind of trike we want to purchase, but we know we will be buying it here! - Julie L

RecumbentPDX prides itself on being a premier destination for recumbent trikes, particularly excelling as a "Catrike Concept store" and even the "Catrike MegaStore for the Western United States." This means they carry an extensive selection of Catrike models, along with other reputable brands like SunSeeker and Greenspeed, ensuring an unparalleled opportunity for potential buyers to see, touch, and most importantly, test ride a variety of trikes. Their commitment to customer satisfaction goes beyond sales, extending to fostering a supportive community for recumbent riders. The personalized approach, emphasizing thorough test rides and detailed discussions about individual needs, makes RecumbentPDX a trusted partner in helping Oregonians rediscover the joy and freedom of cycling.

Location and Accessibility

RecumbentPDX is located at 2025 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214, USA. This address places the shop in the heart of Southeast Portland, a vibrant and well-known area of the city. Hawthorne Boulevard is a major commercial street, easily recognizable and accessible for residents throughout Portland and the surrounding Oregon region.

A crucial aspect of RecumbentPDX's accessibility is their operational model: they operate "BY APPOINTMENT." This means customers are encouraged to "call/email to schedule appt" before visiting. While this requires a bit of planning, it is a deliberate choice that significantly enhances the customer experience. By operating by appointment, Janet and Mel can dedicate their full attention to each visitor, ensuring ample time for personalized consultations, extensive test rides, and detailed discussions, without the rush often found in traditional retail environments. This is particularly beneficial for customers with specific needs or those unfamiliar with recumbent trikes, allowing for a relaxed and unpressured decision-making process.

The shop's physical location on SE Hawthorne Blvd offers good connectivity within Portland. For those traveling by car, street parking may be available in the area, though it can vary by time of day. Public transportation via TriMet bus lines is also a viable option, with routes frequently running along Hawthorne Boulevard. For customers testing trikes, the area provides diverse terrains right outside the door, including nearby "Ladds Addition - the nation's most bike-friendly neighborhood," the "Tilikum Crossing," and even a 600-foot climb to "Mt. Tabor," allowing for comprehensive test rides that simulate real-world conditions.
