This is where Pedal Station Community Bike Center steps in, a unique and invaluable resource that stands as a pillar of the local cycling community. Launched in 2016 by the non-profit Kids on Bikes, Pedal Station is much more than a typical bike shop; it's a community hub dedicated to making cycling accessible to everyone, regardless of income level, while fostering a love for bikes in the next generation.
Pedal Station operates with a mission-driven approach, recognizing that the joy of cycling should be available to all. They achieve this by refurbishing donated bicycles and offering them at affordable prices, making quality bikes attainable for families and individuals who might otherwise face barriers. This commitment extends to their repair services, where experienced staff, like the highly praised mechanic Tyler, provide knowledgeable and efficient fixes to keep bikes on the road and trails.
Beyond sales and service, Pedal Station plays a crucial role in building a vibrant cycling culture in Colorado Springs. Their youth programs, such as "earn-a-bike" and "bike library," empower disadvantaged youth by providing them with the opportunity to earn their own bicycles and learn valuable maintenance skills. This focus on education and community engagement creates a sustainable cycle (pun intended!) of access and empowerment, strengthening the local cycling scene from the ground up.
While one review highlights a negative customer service experience, the overall mission and the positive individual accounts, such as Tyler's exceptional helpfulness, speak to the core values of the center. For Colorado Springs residents, Pedal Station Community Bike Center offers a unique opportunity to acquire an affordable, well-serviced bicycle while directly contributing to impactful community programs that benefit local youth and promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport and recreation.

Pedal Station Community Bike Center Reviews
Tyler was absolutely amazing! I was in a pinch and needed a quick fix on my bike for a class the next morning—he welcomed me right in without hesitation. Super knowledgeable and beyond helpful, he had my bike up and running in no time! I’ll definitely be coming back for a full tune-up!
May 17, 2025 · Tonya ShanahanGood products but horrible customer service. Not sure how you can run a place without having some type of decency to greet or even ask customers if they need any help. Will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.
May 15, 2025 · Isabella TellesI am so impressed with the service! My grandson's brakes needed to be replaced. They were affordable and quick. They interacted with my grandson and even let him use one of their tools to attach a used bell that they gave him.
Sep 29, 2024 · Mary Ellen McCluggageThank you for being a great community resource! I needed a simple part for an older bike, and you are the only place in town to help. Then the big bonus knowing the money goes to a great cause getting more folks - especially kids - riding bikes. We need more people thinking just like you.
Jan 25, 2021 · E GVery kind, knowledgeable, and patient- Austin took our call, was able to help with a loose back tire immediately, so we came in and he replaced it as well as fixed a secondary issue we didn't even know we had. All for about $30! This is a fantastic establishment and we will definitely be returning for future bicycle needs.
