This variety caters to different cycling disciplines and preferences within Massachusetts.
- Expertise in Bike Sales and Initial Setup: Customers have praised the purchasing experience, noting that staff members like Andy are "warm and knowledgeable." Their capacity for minor, on-the-spot repairs is also a significant convenience.
- Longstanding Presence and Reputation: The Haverhill location has a history dating back over a century (originally as "Schwinn bicycle" then acquired by Riverside Cycle in 2013), making it a true Haverhill landmark. It's worth noting that while one customer had a very positive sales experience, another reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the level of advice offered for specific bike types like BMX and felt a lack of general helpfulness, referring to it as "17 Mountain Bikes" due to a perceived narrow focus on certain stock. May 10, 2025 · Dan CostelloWhen I was a kid this place was called Schwinn bicycle and the people were so helpful it was awesome. Now it’s called Riverside Cycle and it’s the opposite. I went in for some help but if you don’t ask about one of the 17 or so bikes they have on show then they can’t help you. They somehow harness the atmosphere of not wanting you in there despite being an open business. They have no advice on BMX. If you ask a question they will refer you to more knowledgable bikes shops in the area. It shouldn’t be named riverside cycles, it should be named “17 Mountain Bikes” or whatever. What a shame for my local bicycle shop.
Apr 05, 2025 · Joe CalWent by there to buy a small part for a brake. The attitude I got was truly remarkable. As if they were doing me some giant favor by taking my money. They overcharged me for some tiny piece and treated me like a second-class citizen. You have a choice when buying a bike, I would not buy from this place and I support small businesses. But these guys are just arrogant and provide poor service.
Aug 13, 2024 · PatrickWent bought a bike lock for my e-bike a few days ago and they barely knew anything about the products. Couple days later asked if they could true a front wheel and they said we don’t touch anything we don’t sell. I understand they may not know how to fix other bikes other than the few they sell but that’s a pretty basic task. Asked where something like that could be done and they said nope. Mechanics know other mechanics. Piss poor service coming out of this shop. Stay away if at all possible. Bring back our good old schwinn bicycle store.
Jul 20, 2024 · Kenny CollinsE-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T - S-E-R-V-I-C-E !! --> The summer of 2023, I went in there without an appointment for a broken Trek derailleur. Alex greeted me and within a minute analyzed what was needed, checked online for the part specs, then to see if they had it in stock (it was). He fixed it within 10 minutes while I shopped around and had very nice conversation with him and the other tech. The price for service and parts were EXCELLENT too. BTW, they have a really GREAT selection of accessories that are hard to find or difficult to know if you would like them by only shopping online. One example is a gel saddle cover on display I was wondering if I would like it and they said to just put it on my seat and ride with it outside!!! WOW! such great and personalized service (I bought the saddle cover). The cover and other items I bought there, I later saw their prices were about the exact same as any online shopping sites!!! Now I go there even to pick up anything needed, ask questions, and for quick bike check ups. I notice many other very happy customers each time I go there too :-) My brother had the same great service there about a year ago too :-)
