Port Jervis Bicycle, like any local business, has distinct characteristics that shape the customer experience. Here are some of its features and highlights, as drawn from available feedback:
Friendly Service: One positive review highlights the staff as "very friendly," indicating a welcoming atmosphere and approachable team. This can be a significant factor for customers, especially those who are new to cycling or need guidance.
Reasonable Pricing (Reported by some): The same review praises "reasonable pricing," suggesting that the shop aims to offer competitive rates for its services, which is often a key consideration for local residents.

Community Reputation (Mixed Perspectives): While one review lauds the shop's friendly and reliable service, another presents a starkly negative view, accusing the owner and an employee of "buying stolen bikes and swiping un-attended bicycles" from dumpsters and even personal property, and then reselling them with replaced parts. This review raises serious concerns about the origin of some inventory and trustworthiness. It explicitly states, "I would not personally shop there. You may end up buying stolen goods." This conflicting feedback means potential customers should exercise their own judgment and potentially make direct inquiries regarding the provenance of bikes and parts if they have concerns.

Port Jervis Bicycle's suitability for locals in the New York region, specifically within Port Jervis and Orange County, presents a mixed picture based on available customer feedback. On one hand, the positive review highlights "very friendly" service, "reasonable pricing," and an "awesome job" on repairs, suggesting that for many, it serves as a reliable and accessible local resource for their cycling needs. Its central location in Port Jervis, a hub for outdoor activities including extensive biking trails, certainly makes it geographically convenient for active residents. However, the presence of a significantly negative review, accusing the shop of dealing in potentially "stolen bikes" and advising against shopping there due to concerns about "buying stolen goods," is a serious red flag that cannot be overlooked. For New Yorkers considering Port Jervis Bicycle, it is essential to weigh these conflicting accounts. While some may experience excellent service and value, others might encounter issues that raise concerns about ethics and trustworthiness. Therefore, while it offers convenient local services, prospective customers in the New York region should proceed with caution and potentially conduct their own due diligence, especially regarding major purchases, to ensure a comfortable and trustworthy transaction.

Port Jervis Bicycle Reviews
Very friendly, always does an awesome job with reasonable pricing. Definitely would recommend.
May 30, 2025 · Raina BarnesFairly crooked people. I see the owner and 1 of the employees driving around in a truck checking dumpsters and scrap disposal for old beat up bikes that then then proceed to take and sell in there shop. Their also known for buying stolen bikes and swiping un-attended bicycles. I haf one with a broken pedal sitting beside my house that dossappeared. It was junk and I was not stressing it when it disappeared. But when I saw a bike that looked suspiciously similar with replaced parts for sale in their shop a few months later it makes me wonder. Nobody is going to steal a bike for personal use that has 1 pedal and blown tires. I would not persobally shop there. You may end up buying stolen goods.
Sep 20, 2024 · brofessor brettThe folks at the bike store were very helpful and kind. They gave me a map of bike paths in Port Jervis and fixed a popped wheel and tube for a very reasonable price. The bike selection looked excellent.
Mar 16, 2024 · rebecca batchieHad an issue with my son's bmx bike , the back wheel broke a couple spokes and bent. Looked online and replacing the wheels would have run upwards of 200$. Called and got us right in, left the bike for a few hours and it was better than new. Amazing service at a fantastic price. Great to have good ole small town service these days. THANK YOU!
Jun 20, 2019 · Matt SeidlerThe guys that run the shop are outstanding, they totally hooked me up on where to ride and even hooked me up with a bike seat post clamp. There selection of bikes is outstanding. I wish i had a bike shop like this in my home town.
