Neighborhood Bike Shop - Carmichael possesses several features and highlights typical of a local bike store, along with areas that customers have noted for improvement. These aspects collectively shape the overall customer experience.

Support for E-Bikes: The shop explicitly states its ability to service e-bikes, albeit with an additional charge. This is a valuable feature as electric bicycles become more prevalent in California, indicating a willingness to adapt to newer cycling technologies.
Local Presence: As a "Neighborhood Bike Shop," its physical presence in Carmichael provides a convenient option for residents needing immediate assistance or preferring to interact with a local business for their cycling needs.
Diverse Inventory (Implied): While specific inventory isn't detailed in the provided reviews, the presence of various repair services and tire sales implies a general inventory of bikes, parts, and accessories for different cycling types (mountain, road, gravel, city, kids' bikes, as seen on their Trek Bikes partner page).
However, it is crucial to address challenges highlighted in customer reviews: instances of alleged miscommunication regarding pricing and services, particularly for e-bike repairs where an "error message E007" was encountered after service, suggesting a lack of electrical system testing post-mechanical work. There are also claims of items being sold with defects (a tire installed backward) and then charged for the correction without consent, as well as perceived rudeness and high prices for minor services like tire inflation. These points suggest that while the shop aims to provide comprehensive services, careful customer communication and thorough post-service inspection by the customer may be necessary.

Neighborhood Bike Shop - Carmichael Reviews
I have now been lied to on 3 separate occasions by this store. So I'm never coming back here.I bought my bike from this store. About 8 months later called to get a quote for a brake pad change. Was told $50 with labor. I was initially charged $113.Maybe I didn't specify I needed both tires. My bad, it's fine. Told them my rear tire won't come off since I bought it. Reassured they can work around it.Show up the next day with another $20 charge for "fixing my rear tire." Woulda preferred they called before the extra charge but whatever, I can cope. Found out it was backwards since I bought it and they graciously charged me without my consent for fixing a mistake they sold it to me with.
Mar 14, 2025 · Stephanie KesslerDon't waste your time. The dude was rude. I bought three tires, two have to be filled with air every four days, they had me wait for a certain tire for a week, when all along they had it in stock. The prices are thru the roof, absolutely ridiculous. I went there to have my tire pumped up, he said 7 bucks. What. With all the business I have given you? It was because I am relieving him of the bike he was presently working with. What.... Ten seconds. Well, there you have info, stay away.
Feb 21, 2025 · Bruce JohnsonI’ve been going to this shop for years, but a change in staff has lowered my 5 star rating to 2, and that is generous.I had new front brake pads installed by a very grumpy staff member, but at least he repaired the bike while I waited, which was greatly appreciated.Unfortunately not all the bolts were retightened correctly and one side of the brake pad assembly fell off within days. I discovered the problem heading down a hill, but my rear brakes were able to slow me down. The other downside to the experience was the price charged. It was twice the price I paid to have the same repair completed, with a smile, by another shop.
