Gearin' Up Bicycles Reviews
I am very glad Gearin Up is open again. I do most work on my bike myself but will occasionally get in over my head. Yesterday a manager helped me with a few ball bearings that needed to be replaced in my headset. I doubt another shop would be willing to help with that. Every time I need to come here I am confident they can help solve the problem.
Jun 25, 2025 · Ben MurrellI came in with a flat tire, right as they were closing, and they not only replaced the tire - they tightened up my brakes for free! Great service, and appreciate them getting me back up and riding quickly.
Jun 25, 2025 · Reggie OgoeThe customer service is nonexistent if you are ( anything that isn’t in their preferences of customers -I.e. white) and simply trying to buy parts for your bike. They prioritize other customers before you and will act like they’re super sensitive to the smallest things, such as asking for air for a tire. I wouldn’t shop here again.
Mar 30, 2025 · Sammy NesbitWe're not nice to me at all. Rude, treated me like a roach. Acted like they didn't want to be bothered. I needed transportation so I had to put up with it. Refused to sell me the bicycle that I asked for REFUSED. Suggested another one so I bought it. Paid in cash and gave a nice tip. Bike was not worth it and I was not happy with the choice. I am a tall old black man who looks broke. They were all black except for the boss who was a white man. I will still shop there because it's cheaper than retail. Yet they don't like black people and they have black skin, or maybe they just didn't like me? They liked that tip I left tho, and the easy cash payment. When leaving there was a police car sitting in front of the store???
Oct 23, 2023 · James Rucker(As of May 2023: CLOSED for indeterminate time.) Fantastic community bike shop with a great mission to support job training for underserved/at-risk youth and make biking more accessible to the DC area's diverse population. I used it to buy a refurbished road bike (love it, perfect fit, smooth ride), buy new & used accessories (great prices & quality), get adjustments (usually quick/while I wait) and get a tune up (after two years of regular use, rides like new-to-me again). Professional, personable & skilled staff, great prices.
