Alchemy Bikes Introduce
For serious cyclists in Colorado, where the passion for hitting challenging trails and scenic roads runs deep, the name Alchemy Bikes resonates with a promise of exceptional craftsmanship and unparalleled performance. Located in the picturesque setting of Golden, Alchemy isn't your typical bicycle store. Instead, it operates as a unique, direct-to-rider fabricator, specializing in handcrafted titanium and carbon fiber bicycles that are designed, engineered, and built right here in Colorado. This approach offers a distinct experience, allowing riders to connect directly with the creators of their dream machines.
In a state renowned for its demanding terrain, from the rugged singletrack of the Rockies to the expansive gravel roads stretching across the plains, having a bike that truly matches your aspirations is key. Alchemy Bikes caters to this discerning market, providing high-end solutions for road, gravel, and mountain biking. Their dedication to precision and quality, coupled with a focus on customizability, means that each bike is not just a product, but a personalized extension of the rider's ambition.
The ethos of Alchemy Bikes revolves around delivering "the best ride experience you will ever have." This mission is evident in the intricate details of their frame construction and the direct engagement they offer with customers. While their boutique nature means a different purchasing journey compared to larger brands, the testimonials from satisfied riders, who praise everything from comfort on "77 miles with over 10,000 feet of elevation gain" to the "flawless" performance of their components, speak volumes about the quality and satisfaction Alchemy strives to deliver. It's a testament to the fact that when it comes to a high-performance bicycle, the connection between rider and maker can be as important as the bike itself.

Alchemy Bikes Reviews
I purchased the Alchemy Ronin Titanium about two years ago and after extensive use, I can honestly say I love it. My journey to finding the Ronin began with practical considerations—I started biking seriously in China and needed something versatile for both commuting and occasional off-road adventures in Colorado.Initially, I owned a Montague Paratrooper for its foldability but I did not do so much mountain biking and I primarily used it for commuting anyway. Then I owned an old Giant OCR2 for its because I could get to work faster, but I missed the capability for off-road excursions. That's when I discovered gravel bikes and eventually settled on the Alchemy Ronin Ti after extensive research and testing. Here are the reasons why I chose the Ronin Ti:1)The name 'Ronin' holds sentimental value as it is also my son's name.2)Crafted in Golden, Colorado, the bike's local production and quality craftsmanship were big selling points.3)Visiting the factory and discussing customization options directly with Bryce ensured I got exactly what I wanted, down to the color scheme and components.4)Despite delays due to COVID-19 supply chain issues, I appreciated the regular updates and understanding customer service throughout the waiting period. What I love about the Alchemy Ronin Ti:1)It is incredibly comfortable even on long rides—I once tackled 77 miles with over 10,000 feet of elevation gain without discomfort.2)Switching between road and off-road riding is effortless with different wheel setups—I use Enve 4.5 SES with Conti GP5000s 32s for road and i9 AR 25 TRA with Schwalbe G-One RS 45s for off-road adventures.3)Built from titanium, it's not just for me; it's a bike my son can enjoy for years to come.4)The Di2 system has been flawless, enhancing the overall riding experience with its precision and reliability.5)Its distinctive design earns admiration, particularly from fellow Coloradans and bike enthusiasts.Modifications and Lessons Learned:Upgrades: I've made some upgrades along the way, including a Specialized Romin Evo with Mirror saddle and premium components like a Chris King bottom bracket and Enve wheels. The saddle has made long rides so much more enjoyable. I cannot tell if the Chris King bottom bracket has made a difference. The Enve wheels are nice, but I mostly got them because they were on sale at the Pro's Closet.Fit: A professional bike fitting significantly improved my comfort and performance, underscoring the importance of a tailored fit. I went to Pedal Fit a bit down the road from Alchemy. It is totally worth it. I cannot express how much it helps.Things I Would Do Differently:1)While the stock size fits well, I now wonder if a custom geometry would have further optimized my riding experience.2)In hindsight, opting for a 1x drivetrain might have better suited my needs, especially for challenging climbs. What I Did Not Like:1) While my overall experience with the Alchemy Ronin Titanium has been overwhelmingly positive, there are a few aspects I wish were different. Foremost among these was the inability to test ride the bike before purchase. Understandably, Alchemy operates as a smaller, boutique shop, unlike larger manufacturers such as Trek or Giant. However, committing to a significant investment of around 10k without a test ride left me quite anxious for many nights leading up to the actual ride.2) The demands of my work often restrict my riding time, which can be frustrating given my enthusiasm for cycling.Future Considerations:Looking ahead, my positive experience with the Alchemy Ronin Titanium has me seriously considering another purchase from Alchemy in about a year, this time for my wife. We're particularly interested in the Alchemy Lycos model, my experience and the customization aspect.Overall, my experience with the Alchemy Ronin Titanium has been exceptionally positive. It's a bike that blends performance, comfort, and craftsmanship—a rare find that I'm proud to own and ride. In fact, I even got a tattoo of the Alchemy logo mixed with Shimano cranks.
Jul 16, 2024 · Dorian LeivaTook my new Arktos 140 out today for its inaugural ride.. what a sick machine!! The guys at Alchemy are great too! Um, pretty good chance I’ll be getting my next bike from them too. The cockpit on the medium frame might be a bit too small for my 5’10” frame and fairly long reach. I might just give this one to my wife and get another one! 😆 She’s down
Sep 04, 2023 · M Todd PendellI was in the market for a new ride and was looking at several options from the big bike companies and a few select boutique brands. I hadn't heard of Alchemy until this past year, but everything I saw/read indicated that it was a solid company producing great bikes, and it didn't hurt that the company is located right here in the great state of Colorado. I contacted Alchemy to inquire about a demo ride. Joe was super responsive and we locked in a date on the calendar. The Alchemy showroom floor was super clean and adorned with beautiful bikes on display. I took the Arktos out for a test spin on my local trails and found that it performed as impressively as its build spec suggests, and after demo'ing a few other bikes from other manufacturers I knew this was the right bike for me. I can't say enough about the quality, fit and finish of these gorgeous bikes, but make no mistake, they perform just as well as they look. I ended up with the ST variant since it would be better suited for what and how I ride, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Awesome company, awesome bikes, awesome people!
Oct 21, 2020 · Ed MaloneI just unboxed my Alchemy Arktos 29 on Thursday, beautiful bike, very happy with the bike. Dealing with Joel at Alchemy was great, he was very helpful in my decision process. The bike was built and ready for shipping quickly. Really straight forward to assemble the bike when I got it home (wheels and handlebar on and ready to go).I only have a short ride complete so far, the bike was very good and comfortable climbing. The trail conditions were not great so I can't give a review on the descending properties of the bike. Looking forward to some dry mud free rides.Highly recommend Alchemy.
Nov 18, 2019 · Doug CoutureI could be very brief and just give the bike five starts and say "it's an amazing bike" and continue with my day but that would not be fair with Alchemy bikes or whoever reads this review.I want to start by saying that even though I'm not a professional rider, I have an extensive background and experience on different cycling disciplines going from BMX up to Downhill MTB, I have been lucky enough to ride mountain bikes with different suspension platforms, geometries, travel and what not so I believe that my word can be trusted when I tell you this one of the most underrated, versatile and fun bike I have ever ridden! Some people that practice multiple cycling disciplines will probably enjoy having multiple bikes for each of them, I’m not that type of person, firstly because this sport is already expensive to own more than one high end bike and secondly, I don’t feel comfortable swapping bikes in every terrain I’m planning to ride, so I needed to buy a bike that was going to have my bike on XC days as well as on Bike parks and rough terrain days. Before the alchemy I rode for two years and 6 months a YT Capra 27.5, This bike was amazing descending, however, every time that I needed to go to the top of the hill, the bike would take me there, but it cost me a lot! From the moment I jumped on the Arktos I knew those struggling days climbing were gone! the SINE suspension platform is just revolutionary, there is no pedal Bob and almost feel like a hardtail bike when going up (you do have lots of small bump compliance), when I felt this uphill efficiency I was kind of skeptical and worried about the bike’s performance descending, you know, you can have both worlds on one long travel bike (170mmF/150mmR) but man, my skepticism disappeared as soon as I began going down, hit the first 5ft drop and just kept getting speed as I flew over the rock, roots and berms, I could not believe how this bike could be so well planted and playful at the same time, I could not believe all the amazing things I was missing from a bike, and I didn’t you could be having all this fun on an enduro bike. Without extending myself more I just want to say that everyday I can’t wait to get home after work and take my bike to the nearest trail and ride it like there was no tomorrow.Do yourself a favor and invest in an Alchemy arktos! You will not be dissapointed, and if you are, you can return the bike within the first 30 days of your purchase, so basically you have nothing to lose!
