May 31, 2025 · Peter Sinclair>>>New hydraulic disc brake pads installed at CK cycles this week included "Bedding In" process done on specialized equipment in the bike shop.Bedding new pads into discs provides many benefits. Best of all, hydraulic disk brake performance was outstanding right out of the shop. Braking on today's 22-mile, rainy weather ride, with hills, was confident, smoothe, vibration free. 👍🏼💪🏼💥>>>>>>>>>>>>>>CK been keeping my Cannondale Hybrids in fine running condition over 5 years now. This year CK solved wheel problems on both my bikes. This month Jeff discovered a derailleur cable problem before it shut down one of my rainy weather rides. In June he solved an annoying handle bar extender problem on my his weather bike, 2024 Cannondale. And he put on a much stronger, really high quality rear bike wheel which I feel more confident with.💪🏋️♂️I'm going into the rainy cold weather season. So 3+ weeks ago CK inspected and did important repairs on my rainy weather bike. This week I've been doing first wet weather rides of the season... with hills, traffic etc. and the derailleur and brakes are working perfectly.I'm not that up-to-date on these hydraulic brakes lines and disc brakes. So I am particularly grateful when CK Cycles inspects and works on my brakes.Since those recent repairs including a new res3t wheel, I have put over a 140 miles on my wet weather Cannondale hybrid. The new wheel, Derailleurs, hydraulic disc brakes all working flawlessly. Totally confident as we head into winter cycling season. Here I am today picture below, taking a break during a rainy weather ride. 👍🏆🎖️ Thanks You Jeff/ CK Cycles.
Apr 24, 2025 · Richard AllenI brought a 1984 Hutch Chrome BMX bike into the shop to be overhauled. I was in the store for virtually less than a minute and two people commented on the bike. Then the owner came over and he also commented on it and had a big smile on his face while talking about it. He asked if it was “new” to me and said it looked to be in great shape and asked what I wanted to do with it. I explained I have owned the bike since I was a kid and wanted to restore it keeping as much of the bike as original as possible but that I did want modern tires on it. He asked if I meant modern BMX comp iii tires or a modern tread style. I said modern tread style. He went to his computer and showed me a few different brands and settled on a pair of Odyssey tires. I also told them if the brake levers and calipers needed to be replaced to put nice ones on. The owner was looking closely at everything and said “oh no these are great I can work with these.” I could tell from this conversation that I had with him that he was passionate about his craft. I felt I had made the right choice bringing the bike hear as the owner clearly understood I wanted to keep it as original as I could. He was very respectful and asked if it was ok if he removed the front reflector when he was goi g to replace the cables. I said sure and the back one as well if he wanted. He told me everything would take about 10 days. True to his word, the work was done in a timely fashion and I was called and informed it was completed. The caller stated that bike sure is real nice chrome. We have some guys that really like BMX bikes and they really got into it. I went to pick it up and the owner thanked me for bringing it in and letting him work on it. He said he had a lot of fun working on it. That “fun” translated into the bike looking about as new as I think it possibly could short of finding unused old factory original parts. It looks great. I’ve bought a four bikes here over the years and will continue to do so as well as bring them back for service. It’s always been a good experience but this last time really felt special. They took the time to truly take interest in an old bike that wasn’t purchased at their store. I could tell he took parts off and cleaned them because everything looked squeaky clean and SHINY. The owner worked on this bike himself and I can he took pride in his job. He spent a good amount of time talking to me when I dropped it off as well as when I picked it up. He also gave me a box containing the original parts (brake pads and cables) that had been replaced as well as the reflectors that I told him could be removed. I highly recommend this shop.
Jun 28, 2024 · Jason MMixed experience. My first visit I stopped in to ask about a particular model Cannondale and the kid in the shop laughed and said they don't carry it. I'm not really quite sure if he was laughing at the bike I wanted (which was in stock at a few other locations in the region) or if he was laughing about the modern realities of LBS inventory, but it didn't feel great.Ultimately I ordered the bike online to be delivered to CK (they're the closest shop for me) and in the mean time I took my family's several bikes to REI for tune-up, and purchased my summer riding kit there too just so I would minimize my apparently laughable interactions. When picking up my bike at CK I'm pretty sure the same kid handed it off to me but this time he talked about expected wear issues and gave input on how to carefully handle the front disc brake. It was a much more positive experience and I felt a lot better about it. Probably didn't hurt that there was an adorable dog in the store and on the way out I got to see someone bringing in a bike with a beautiful Lefty (Ocho?).I'll probably be back, I do need some new egg beaters and a groupset for this project.
